Does anyone know of any special summer camps or websites I might try looking up? I have been trying to find summer camps for my sister. She's 16. She functions on a much lower age level than 16. I will be watching my sister this summer, but if she stays home all summer she is going to get very bored and start acting up big time. Going to camp will give her a chance to do something with other kids. She is going to go to two different camps both of which are one week each for a total of two weeks. One is a camp for kids with Epilepsy called Camp For All and the other one is a camp for kids with different types of disabilities called Texas Lion's Camp. The camps need to be in Texas. If anyone knows of any specialized camps or related info. please post here. Thanks so much. My mother has me looking for camps that are for children with mental retardation and/or Epilepsy (seizures). My sister has been diagnosed with having mental retardation and Epilepsy. MHMRA (Mental Heath And Mental Retardation Association) diagnosed her years ago.

Have you tried asking the staff at your sister's school for any information? They could have some ideas on summer camps and other ways to keep her occupied.
Is your sister able to work? Maybe she could apply for a job somewhere for the summer. I remember when I worked at the grocery store, I worked with several teens and young adults with intellectual impairments. |

Maybe you could try contacting maybe Easter Seals or Special Olympics to see if there are any nearby camps.
