Madderest Former Co-Star Tells Sean Penn: 'Shut Up!'

Maria Conchita Alonso has blasted her Colors co-star Sean Penn for his outspoken political views about her native Venezuela, insisting he should "shut up" and stop showing his support to the country's "killer" president, Hugo Chavez.

Milk star Penn has voiced his admiration for Chavez on numerous occasions - the actor visited the politician in 2007, when he was writing an article about the leader, and caught up with him again in 2008.

In a 2007 interview following his first trip to the South American country, Penn said: "The first thing I'm going to say is that we know more lies about him in the United States than we know truth. If you want a soundbite from me about Chavez, then I would say that, for the moment, he's much more positive for Venezuela than he is negative."

And while Alonso, who appeared alongside Penn in the 1988 film, admits Penn is a great actor, she is angry he is publicly backing Chavez, who has been criticized for his controversial leadership.

She tells TMZ.com, "He's an amazing actor, I can't take that away from him. It's just that he has no clue at all what's going on in Venezuela. He's praising Hugo Chavez, who's a killer and a dictator. I tried to put aside his political thing that he has no clue (about), so he should just shut up about what he doesn't know."

And the Latina was particularly incensed when she saw Penn win the Best Actor Oscar at last month's Academy Awards.

She recalls, "I put it on mute. I was watching in my room... So when his turn came, I mute it (sic). When he comes on stage, I was like, 'No!'

You know I really like Sean Penn but I do not see why he is supporting this guy.

Chavez is a power hungry dictator. Recently, the government voted for the eradication of terms of limit for the President; Chavez is their for life.

He also does things for political points; such as when he offered free oil to poor Americans. When everything went south and more people became poor Chavez then stopped the free oil plan.

Cool

He should probably just stick to acting and leave the politics to people who actually know what they're talking about.

Del Toro Enjoys Meeting With 'Nice' Chavez
5 March 2009 8:15 AM, PST

Actor Benicio Del Toro has met with Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, becoming the latest celebrity to enjoy a one-on-one talk with the controversial leader.

The star is in the South American country to promote his Ernesto 'Che' Guevara biopic Che, but took time out of his busy promotional schedule to pay Chavez a visit in Caracas on Wednesday.

The Oscar winner, a native of Puerto Rico, has refused to divulge the specifics of his conversation with the "nice" leader, but insisted he "had a good time with the president".

Chavez has previously played host to Hollywood stars Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey and Danny Glover.

True, Sean Penn is really not known for comedy but that is one of his only "light-hearted films" he has done compared to his other works. Doesn't mean not worth watching like Beavis mentioned.

I have seen majority of Penn's work and the only one I really did not like was The Assassination of Richard Nixon; just didn't care for it.

Despite it being a flop I still want to sit down and watch the remake of All The King's Men one day.

I've seen Dead Man Walking so many times in school. Always used in religion and college law courses for death penalty debates.

One of the teachers I had claimed to have known the nun played by Susan Sarandon in Dead Man Walking that it is based on.
