Marquette, Mich. -- A Michigan woman with two wombs gave birth to twin daughters last week, one from each womb.

Sarah Reinfelder had the unusual condition and very rare dual pregnancy, Marquette television station WLUC reported.

The station said that Valerie Marie and Kaylin Joy were each born by Caesarian section, weighing around 4 pounds. Because they were premature, they will be given steroids to help their lungs develop. Doctors said they will probably spend a few weeks in intensive care, but should be fine after that.

There have only been three other reported cases of women with two wombs and a pregnancy in each at the same time, the station said.

"Most people are born with one uterus, and Sarah was born with two, and that's a very unusual situation in the first place, and so the chances of getting pregnant and then having a pregnancy in each uterus becomes exceedingly rare," gynecologist Dr. Breanna Pond said.

Reinfelder and her husband, Shane, have a 10-month old son, and found out about her unusual anatomy after a miscarriage a few years ago.

I have heard of women having two wombs before. My mom's friend told us years ago that she has wombs.

Wow - never heard of that before!!! I'd say that would be handy, but it would actually really suck. (Still trying to figure out how that would look anatomically......NO I don't think I want to know afterall!!!)

So I guess they are considered twins because of being born at the same time even though they're from separate wombs. To me, that isn't really a twin.

Never heard of a woman having multiple wombs before. I imagine that must be a pretty rare occurrence. And even rarer to carry a child in each womb at the same time! Has Ripley's Believe it or Not heard about this woman?

Thankfully that ONE doesn't! Or should would have had up to 64 kids at a time! It would surely crash the U.S.'s welfare system!
