The 79-year-old actress who played Jerry Seinfeld's prim mother Helen for nine seasons is much more, let's say, passionate. ''I'm so unlike her, it's strange,'' says Sheridan of the character who lived with ex-raincoat salesman Morty at the hysterically strict Florida condo, Del Boca Vista. ``I've had a huge, full life.'' That she has, indeed. The daughter of concert singer and classical pianist Frank Sheridan, she began her career as a dancer in nightclubs. One evening, life changed when she met then-unknown James Dean. They went on to have an intense affair chronicled in Sheridan's 2000 book, Dizzy & Jimmy: My Life with James Dean: A Love Story, which may get turned into a movie. ''He was silly and funny and giggled a lot,'' Sheridan says of the infamous rebel. 'He loved to put his two front teeth [which he lost in a motorcycle accident] in peoples' drinks when they weren't looking. We got along mentally and physically.'' Sheridan gets physical again playing one of Andy Griffith's love interests in the new movie Play the Game, about an older man trying to get back into the singles' scene. How was working with the TV legend? ``Terrific -- he's a very easy, generous and smart actor. He knows his business and gives as much as he gets.'' What about the, er, love scenes? ''It was fun playing a lady of ill repute -- a seductress in a little red nightgown,'' she says. 'They still owe me a T-shirt that says ``I [insert Seinfeldian reference to `The Move' here] Andy Griffith!'' No matter how racy Sheridan wants to be perceived, we're afraid she'll be remembered as playing Helen Seinfeld on the hit comedy that ended in 1998. But she's OK with that. ''I still get e-mails from all over the world,'' Sheridan says. ``Cab drivers always recognize me. I even got out of a speeding ticket once.'' |

Jerry's mom and James Dean? Who knew? Never knew Liz had such an interesting life. Cool!
