Default Write to Fox? Mary herself? OPRAH???

Just got back from Amazon, where there's a fan riot going on on the page for the Complete Set. It kind of depresses me a little, as it's a deep, dark cloud over the normally bright world of TMTMS (:-)) and, well, when something is going wrong within something I like, I tend to not be able to think about that thing without becoming upset with what went wrong. And I obsess over the bad things that go on in the world (like Fox thinking about themselves and whatnot) Think it's an Asperger thing.

OK psychiatry session part over. Unless you wanna say something to reassure me, of course ;-)

So...has Fox said either way that there would or would not be separate releases?

And more importantly, Has anyone tried writing to Fox? I suggest it because we had another sign of the apocalypse lately, with CBS actually going back on its dreaded music policies and offering the alternate Fugitive discs with the original music, because of the unpopularity of the altered versions. I have a feeling if a lot of MTM fans call Fox's hand RIGHT NOW, something will happen sooner. You just have to raise your voices towards the right direction, and I don't mean just complaining on a message board they'll never see. As seems to be the popular thing to do for Internetters (well, most ;-))

Maybe Oprah, whose MTM special was said to help the cause of completing the series, can be contacted and asked to speak out on this?

I'll also point out that Mary herself is on AOL, her SN is MTMPIX. Write to her too.

And don't just say "I won't do it, they don't care what I think." That's the idea, we have to change that attitude if it was the truth.

Justice is coming. Slower than we thought, but it's coming. Let's all be a part of it.

I sent an email to the Foxdrop address shortly after the complete series was announced to ask about individual releases. Never heard back, not that I'm terribly surprised. I tend to be a real optimist, but I'm beginning to think our only option may be just to wait it out and see what Fox decides to do. All signs seem to indicate that the complete series is going to bomb, so it depends on how Fox responds to that when it happens, I guess.

That's my two cents. They may or may not be worth that much, though.

Well remember I had other suggestions for people you could contact. And also, I am concerned about said response by Fox. As I stated before, what if the conspiracy theorists are right and they want this to fail so they can lay MTM to rest once and for all? (It probably IS a C.T., but people in power have strange thoughts) Which is why I think writing to them often and in numbers is a must. They may not answer, but if there's enough they can't ignore either.

Maybe they need to have the Amazon page sent to them?

I see your point about laying it to rest. I don't think Oprah or Mary could do much, other than offer us sympathy. Contacting Fox in droves could be an option, since at the very least we'll be able to vent. This is just such a frustrating situation, b/c nobody really knows what to do. There are too many possibilities on what Fox could be thinking (if they even ARE, lol!).

I honestly think we're due for a press release soon, since Fox posted one for another show scheduled for April 28 recently. It'll be nice to finally have some details! I just hope they make the situation better, not worse. It's already a pretty depressing thing.

They've kept the fans hanging on so long that they deserve all the venom they've received.

Oprah is a more outside source, but like her or not, does have influence. And Mary has no say about HER show? I find that hard to believe, but I probably should.

One thing's for sure: Fox definitely needs to fan the flames somehow. This is a Damage Control Red Alert to put it lightly. I maintain about writing them, I don't know, armies of angry fans have got some jobs done in the past!

If we decide we want to write Fox, I'm def. in! Maybe we should try saying the same thing, to let them know this isn't just a coincidence. I just don't want to end up getting more of those "we have no information" emails again. I think that would just frustrate/depress me more.

I have never agreed with anything more on this message board as this statement right here! Like I said earlier, I believe that they are just releasing it this way to wash their hands of the entire series and to get people to quit bugging them about the series.

Mary sold MTM long ago. People should keep in mind that this release is not official yet. I would be very upset if your anger caused them to release nothing! You are hopefully being given a choice that can still be taken away.
There are so few people who care that the "storm" on amazon is 183 comments. Only one person on this board is going to the 92nd st y and they have hardly sold any tickets. I am just GRATEFUL that all seasons will be available. How and when you decide to purchase or not to purchase them is your decision.

it is such a shame this classic show is being handled like this

i can totally understand the anger of the "paying for it twice" crowd, and even though 183 people is a drop in the bucket, i'm sure amazon has noticed the skewed ratings this class action has caused

where i totally agree with df7940 is that the show has indeed not all come yet, and this uprising theoretically could scuttle it.
having already said that i agree with the people who are angry, does it not make sense for everybody to calm down and to let 20th century fox home entertainment put out the whole set, and THEN go crazy about getting individual seasons out????

it just boggles my mind that this show isn't already out

p.s. df7940, if you hear anything about the 92d street y event being canceled, please let me know...maybe i can switch my train tickets to the day she's doing the other book signing, or the "pipe" affair. thanks!

Yeah, I see what you guys are saying about waiting till after the complete series is out to complain. It's just so frustrating that Fox hasn't come out w/ an official press release. I really thought we'd see one this week, but it doesn't look likely now (although there is one day left in the week, hehe!).

As for the booksigning at the Y, I just checked their site, and Mary's still listed. So I think you're OK for now, PGood.

I don't think they will cancel the lecture at the 92nd St. Y but I always suggest calling before you leave your house for any event. This is more than a book signing. She will be interviewed by a so far unannounced person for an hour and a half. I have seen Carl Reiner, Larry David and Michael Palin here and it is always special.

that's why i'm really hoping the event comes off, because of the interview portion; it's a long way to travel but i'd be real interested in an hour and a half interview with mary in addition to just the 30 seconds or so you might get at the book signing

and i'm glad to hear you think it will go off as planned, but i certainly am going to keep tabs on it right up until the day before the event just in case
