Brittany Snow Cast in Gossip Girl Spinoff

The Upper East Side will have nothing on the San Fernando Valley, if Brittany Snow has anything to say about it.

The perky star of Hairspray and NBC's American Dreams is in final talks to headline Gossip Girl's spin-off, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The show centers on a teen Lily van der Woodsen (née Rhodes) living in 1980s Los Angeles.

The spin-off is expected to be considerably less glam that its progenitor: After a falling-out with her parents, Lily leaves a life of privilege in New York to move to the Valley to live with her sister, Carol, the black sheep of the family. Finding herself in public school for the first time and without all her creature comforts, Lily's left to fend for herself — and to explore the wild side of Los Angeles. (No word yet on how, if at all, she'll cross paths with Rufus Humphrey.)

Already cast in the spin-off are Shiloh Fernandez (Jericho), who plays a hot Valley punk, and Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad), who plays Carol.

Snow's rep has no comment at this time, while the CW would not confirm the casting.

As a American Dreams fan, I can't believe I might have to check this out, it is out of my demographic but with the adorable Miss Snow.....oh well......lol
