Default buying groceries and food online....

....who here has done it? My brother bought our groceries online once, when we we snowed in, and he wasn't very satisfied with the experience and hasn't done it again since then.
Another time though, he ordered a pizza for our dinner online, so it was ready when we got to the place, and was VERY satisfied.

I'm so afraid that if buying groceries online becomes a new rage, I could loose my job .

That's why I refuse to shop online. We can't afford to be losing even more jobs. It may be more convenient and less aggrivating than going to the store, but it would be bad for an already shaky job situation.

I do wish that stores would train their employees better though. I know from experience it's both physically and emotionally draining, but is a polite smile and hello from the cashier too much to ask for? And can the bagger please bag the groceries properly so cold stuff stays cold and bread doesn't get squished?

I refuse to shop for groceries online. But have bought pork roll from a pork roll place that they deliver to my door since there is no pork roll in San Diego.

Stop & Shop has a delivery service called Peapod, and I used it off and on for years when I was working. I had no problems. They even took coupons and applied them to your next order. I didn't order meat or produce. I want to pick those items out myself. I was very pleased. I only stopped as it was expensive. The groceries cost 10% to 20% more, then there was a $5 delivery fee, and a $5 tip. I never had a single problem. Can food, cereal, pasta, coffee, etc, no way of screwing that up. Stop & Shop is a quality grocery store to begin with, and they run their delivery service well.

I order things from Schwan's online, they are at my house every two weeks, they just left my house an hour ago. I have been happy with their service and food. Other than that, I go to the grocery store and pick out my own groceries.

I know what you're saying. There are so many of my co-workers that are just plain lazy. I do my best to always be friendly and say hello and even ask them about their day. I also put their groceries in their cart for them so they don't have to kill themselves trying to stretch across the counter to get them.

Buying groceries online? NEVER!

It's best to go to the place and know what you want.

When I go to a grocery store, I can choose and take my items, as opposed to waiting.

For standard items, there's nothing wrong with ordering online. People order clothes, music, everything online. I ordered a daybed online two weeks ago. It's beautiful. For staples on your grocery list, having them delivered saves time and heavy lifting. I don't need to hold the following items in my hand. I know what they are:

Pet food, litter and pet treats.
Cases of soda or bottled water.
Can soup, tomato sauce, can vegetables.
Can coffee, sugar, cake mix, oil, boxed pasta.
Cleaning supplies, i.e. 409, SOS, Windex.
Paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, paper plates and cups.
Shampoo, soap, toothpaste, mouthwash.

Agreed, The only thing I'd need to see before I purchased it would be meat, dairy and produce.

I order everything from either Stop & Shop or Target. Nowadays, it can be very difficult to get a time slot for delivery and the pickins' are slim. A lot of stuff will be out of stock.

I also order a lot of dinners on line at the pizza parlor, the Tex-Mex place, the deli and I FINALLY found a Chinese place near me that delivers. My usual Chinese restaurants have been on total lock-down because of Covid-19, but there is a particular place that still delivers. I had their food about 10 years ago and it was very good from what I remember, so I will be ordering it as soon as I get my Direct Deposit on Wednesday.

I will not leave the house for any reason unless the house is on fire, so it's only online shopping for now, maybe for the rest of my life now.
