Madderest Eartha Kitt's Publicist Lashes Out Over Oscar Snub

Late actress/singer Eartha Kitt's former publicist has lashed out at Oscar producers for omitting her from a segment paying tribute to stars who had passed away over the past year.

Kitt died on Christmas Day after losing her battle with colon cancer, aged 81. Best-known for her role as Catwoman in the original 1960s Batman TV show, the Santa Baby singer also co-starred in movies with Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr. and Sidney Poitier. And the Emmy winner's former publicist, Andrew Freedman, is outraged her glittering career was overlooked during Sunday's telecast.

He tells the New York Post, "The producers are either 12 or have been living under a rock for the past 60 years. It's clear that they thought that publicist Warren Cowan was more of a household name. Go figure."

The Academy Award's In Memoriam segment featured Charlton Heston, Paul Newman, Sydney Pollack and dozens of stars who passed away in 2008.

They did the same thing to Yvonne De Carlo "Lily" on The Munsters when she passed away in 2007 & her son was furious with the Academy. Their excuse was that she was known more to TV viewers as Lily Munster, which of course was total BS. Before the Munsters she was one of the biggest movie stars in the world and appeared in such movies as Cris Cross with Burt Lancaster & The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston!
I agree that the people running Hollywood today are kids & have no clue about anything!
Today it's all about reality TV & money! No one in Hollywood cares about keeping the memory of old Hollywood alive. Very sad!

Madderest

That really stinks. Good for Eartha's publicist for lashing out!

Count me in - I haven't watched the Oscars in years anyway.

Isn't that kind of like going on strike against a company that doesn't even employ you?

Maybe, but one less viewer is one less viewer, no matter what!

Come on! Are you seriously not going to watch the Oscars just because they did not show Eartha in the tribute clip?

It is a shame that they didn't include her (and hopefully they'll make it up), but there's no way I wouldn't watch the Oscars!

Well add another name to the list of Oscar Snub. Farrah Fawcett was not included on the 82nd Annual Academy Awards tribute segment. But The Academy made sure to include Michael Jackson who died on the same day as Farrah! Ok so we have Michael Jackson who only made one movie "The Wiz" back in the 70's & then we have Farrah who starred in a handful of theatrical movies like Cannonball Run, Extremities, The Apostle and Dr. T & The Women.
Either someone at the Academy must really hate Great TV Icons or has beef with someone at The Emmy Awards. Regardless of what the case may be that was not cool not including the Legendary Farrah, Eartha & Yvonne De Carlo in your past tributes! Unlike Michael Jackson (no disrespect), the three of them have starred in several motion pictures!! MORONS!!!
