Changes in Food, Candy, Liquids, or TV that has annoyed you since the year of 2000?

Well Last night I was able to see that the Food at Ruby Tuesday's is no longer the same and tastes nothing like it did in 2000.

What changes has irritated you?

First, as far as what we eat and drink, there's been an effort in the last several years to make it more "healthy", reducing trans fats and so forth, and I suppose that's a good thing, but really, I wonder if people are in general any healthier.

As for changes in TV, in my opinion TV has gone downhill over the last several years. Increased quantity but lower quality. I know I'm relatively older than many at SO, and so I hope I'm not coming across as someone who wants to go back to the past, but I'm disillusioned by what I often see: a proliferation of shopping channels, someone always using strategies to sell me stuff I don't want or need, and trying to convince me how much happier I'd be if ony I would buy their products, plus all the reality shows. Life's tough enough to have to sit and watch other people's misery and disillusionment. I'd rather sit and watch an episode of the Beverly Hillbillies, to be honest, than watch someone get kicked off an island, see Donald Trump fire someone, or watch someone leave a kitchen in tears because a petulant, angry chef yells at them. I would love to see a transformation in television, with greater substance, fewer channels and more edifying and entertaining programming for the whole family. There are still good shows out there, but they're often obscured by the abundance of garbage, imho.

Any kind of email service changing their look. I've been using Yahoo Mail since 1998 and liked Yahoo Mail of that time period (just not the stupid 3mb inbox limit they had back then). My Yahoo email likes to pester me to change over to the ~*~new~*~ Yahoo Mail. **** you, I'm NOT changing over. And what is up with the online chat thing? I know Gmail has it and that's fine and all that, but OMG. Yahoo's is SO annoying, so I just don't use it.

I miss when coffee creamer used to come in glass jars. Coffeemate used to do that 10 years ago.

The pull-off lid on any sealed aluminum can is REALLY annoying, too. I have mild arthritis due to two separate old injuries in my right hand, and it can be a real killer some days. Also, if I'm pulling off the lid on a coffee can, I have to remember to shake it a little so the coffee grounds inside are level first, because the can ALWAYS burps at me and sends grounds flying every time I break the seal. Opening cans with a can opener doesn't kill me as much, because I have one of these nifty openers that doesn't leave you with sharp edges.

I can't get a MARS now in 2009 like I could in 2000

The idea of "humor" is all ironic and Seinfeldian now with added shaky cams and internet references. All shows since at least 2003 have been like this. Jokes about iPods, watching YouTube and Googling yourself are kind of stupid, seeing as all "e-products" are becoming increasingly inferior yet everyone still seems to use them (Although it's glitchy, I'm a proud Creative Zen owner, YT's video service is pretty much dead due to big dog companies screwing with them and just try doing a proper quote search on Google these days. I end up spending most of my time using that blasted Advanced Search with word variants to find anything at least coherent now!).

Candy has been consistent as always but due to the recession we're seeing a lot of mockolate hit the market, most of it coming from Hershey, Mars, Nestle and numerous low-end brands you find at Rite Aid and Wal-Mart. Mockolate is fattening, obviously synthetic and tastes nothing like chocolate. This is why I've been switching to varieties of hard candy, soft fruit flavored candy and lollipops.

Back to the Internet, services that were popular from the mid 90s and 2000s are pretty much dead due to the dot-com bubble, Geocities, Tripod and Angelfire are shadows of their former selves, no one uses Altavista or Yahoo anymore although they were wonderful services, Usenet is going the way of the dinosaur and Google is trying to ruin it like everything else and WAV sites were once a commodity but over the last few years have fallen wayside for cheesy video sites, you can still find old WAV hosts if you hunt for them because us old school netters still like to customize our Windows sounds. MSN Live Search is slowly becoming my new search engine of choice because they come up with better results and don't mess with the old search formula.
