Thumbs up Chinese Food

I love it. My favorites are chicken fingers, crab rangoon, beef teriyaki, Peking ravioli, chicken lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, etc, etc, etc. My husband likes spareribs on the bone, chicken wings, Chicago chicken chow mein, clams in black bean sauce and egg roll.

What do you like?

I love Chinese food too, however the menu you describe will be considered Chinese-American.

Have you ever had authentic Chinese cuisine? What Americans (westerners) look at to be Chinese food is totally different.

I actually did about 15 years ago, and I didn't care for it. Sort of ironic in a sense. I've grown accustomed to the Americanized version. There are Chinese restaurants on almost every block around here, but one stands out. They charge almost double the going rate, don't deliver, and don't offer specials (in the restaurant and never a coupon, etc). Yet, the place is always busy. On New Years Eve, you have to place your order the day before. They offer Cantonese and Mandarin, which I tried and hated, as well as what they call on their menu, Traditional Chinese Food.

My favorites are:
Beef with green pepper
Lemon chicken
Fried rice

I have tried these but I would probably like them, too:
Orange chicken
Sizzling steak

whenever i order takeout, i never go for the likes of sweet and sour chicken, egg fried rice, spare ribs, spring rolls for example. instead i order something like roast duck and/or soya chicken with sauce and rice, chicken with chinese mushrooms or seafood chow mein to name.

for me the best chinese food in central london is chinatown, there are chinese takeouts and restaurants outside of chinatown, but i don't like them because they mainly serve things like buffets- which i avoid, and offers on rice or noodles but they don't offer additional meats such as chicken, red roast pork- which is char siu-, roast duck, crispy pork to name. their menu is restricted therefore and so they don't offer much in terms of variety. plus, it doesn't taste that good either. whereas in chinatown, yes, it is little pricey- in one restaurant, the cheapest for chinese food is £3.50, but in others you're looking at £5.00 and over.

in london's chinatown, they serve squid, octopus and as disgusting as it may sound they taste rather nice. it is orange in colour because it has orange dye but it is served with oyster sauce, which i like.
