This won't be a happy thread, so please back out of it, if that troubles you. Some find it therapeutic to discuss issues. I'll start.
Many years ago, I was told that my best friend's boyfriend was having an affair. If it had been a one time fling, I possibly could have kept quiet. I drove myself crazy debating whether to tell my friend or not. In the end, I sat her down and told her. It was so hard. We both ended up crying. She broke up with him, but they ended up together, got married, had three sons, with the youngest graduating HS this year. He ended up being a great husband. Another difficult and sad thing I had to do was buy my mother's burial clothes. She had nice clothes, but I wanted her to have everything new. While she was still alive, but with the end drawing near, I went to the mall and bought everything. I bought her a blue dress, as blue was her favorite color. I bought a cross necklace with matching earrings. My mother loved angels, so I bought her a new angel pin, and a matching one for me to wear to her funeral. I even bought her new nylons and shoes. My heart was so heavy, but I knew I would be too distraught doing this after she died. I remember the sales clerk putting the dress in a garment bag and hanging it up on the rack, as he rang up the sale, and thinking to myself, if he only knew. She passed away two weeks later. I've also had to break the news of a few deaths to people. That's never an easy thing to tell someone. Also, saying goodbye to my 17-year old cat, Foxy, just about ripped my heart out. Handing him over for the last time, so hard, so final.

Go to my best friends funeral, and tell my daughters that their great grandma has cancer.

Mine would be when I had to put my cat Smokey down and stayed with him through the whole process. Even though it was the hardest thing I had ever done at the time, I'm so glad I did it and I'll do it again when I have to.
Another time was when my mom and I left my dad because of his drinking. It ripped my heart out. I loved him dearly, but we had tried everything else. He had just been getting worse. He pleaded and begged us to stay, but we thought by us leaving it would shock him into recovery. Unfortunately it had the opposite effect and he died 6 weeks later of a heart attack (and probably a broken heart as well). I think recently the worst would be when I had to break the news to my brother and aunt that I had a brain tumour. I held off telling them for months and a lot of other people actually. |

Putting my dog to sleep was such a hard decision for me. I didn't want her to suffer, but I didn't want to let her go.
I also dumped a friend of mine a couple of years ago. This girl was so immature and unbelievably self-centered that I just couldn't stand to be around her anymore. I felt so bad about hurting her for a while after and even considered calling her to apologize, but I stayed strong and focused on my other friends who were always good to me. |

I think I can think of more but this one I can think of..
A few years ago, I was dog sitting as my aunt's dog liked to poke her nose under the digged ground under the fence. So one day she was playing as to poking her nose under the fence then I hear a yelp.. the dog next door had scratched her and she didn't bleed much but I had to let the neighbor know. Took me awhile to tell her but I called her and told her that one of her dogs had scratched my aunt's dog who had stuck her nose under the fence. She came by that night to check on her and the dog was okay and her husband put a smaller board near the holes so the dogs won't scratch each other or dig under. My mom and aunt were on a cruse so they came home and my middle sister and I went to pick them up. I waited until we got home, my aunt sees the dog to tell her what happened to the dog, which she kinda laughed a bit and said she noticed the dog does that. |

Another one I just thought of..
A few weeks ago, I posted about this actually. I had to tell my manager I was concerned about a co worker wearing flip flops on the floor where I work in a clothing store and she does shipment. I don't think anyone knew that I said something but it seems to have not worked cause the co worker is still wearing flip flops but I just hope nothing happens when she is working with her flops on. I already said something and I don't want to keep pressing it. |

uhh, the other day when me and this guy worked together on an assignment for one of my music classes and at the end i didn't want to seem as apathetic and distant as i probably had, so i spent about two minutes gathering the courage to say "good work" and he was like "thanks, you too" and after i left i had an anxiety attack and body spasms over it and was shaken up for the rest of the day.
also putting a close friendship on hiatus last summer for about six months. i thought he'd think i didn't care anymore and kill himself or something. |

Several years ago, I had to tell someone that her father had just had a stroke. Not a great moment.

A few years ago, I had to tell my mother about a call that I received from the vet. We had taken our cat at the time there because she had suddenly become very slow and tired. The vet told me that the cat had cancer and needed to be put to sleep. I told my mother this and, since she had been very close to "Tiger" (that was her name) she was naturally upset. That was a tough thing to have to tell her.

Having to put one of my mom's cats down to sleep back in November.
I still feel like we murdered him, but I know we didn't. And he was in SO much pain, it was just better to stop his suffering. Still... ![]() Also, almost a year ago (March 2, 2008), I had to inform a friend that someone murdered his favorite teacher.
