Once the Windows Product on your Computer has expired, how do I install a New Window?

I have a New Microsoft Windows to install but the Windows product that was already on my computer has expired after 30 days.


So how do I install the New Windows when the Current Expired Windows won't let me log in?

is this on a new computer, what version of Windows is on there now, and what is the new version you want to install?

you are probably going to want to call Microsoft, to either reactivate the current so you can at least back your stuff up before you reinstall, or you may be able to just use the activation code on the new windows for the existing installation.

if this is on a new computer, call the manufacturer - most likely you just need to activate it.

Well, that's just werid, I've never heard of that.

Maybe go to the store that you bought the computer from? I would think the computer tech guys could help.

In the future, if you dont know the answer to a question don't reply because all you will do is make the poster of the thread more pissed off than he already was before he created this thread. I was looking for ASSISTANCE, not a reply saying-"I wish I can help"

you didn't actually provide enough information for anyone to provide you with an answer, however I am going to make a few assumptions to see if I can help you:

...assuming that this is Windows XP or Vista and that this is the 30-day activation that has expired you can temporarily bypass the activation by following the instructions here: http://tomorrowtimes.blogspot.com/20...d-windows.html

the bottom line is that you are going to have to call either Microsoft or the computer manufacturer to activate your copy of Windows - you do NOT need to reinstall Windows.

from within Windows:

Open Windows Activation by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Computer, clicking Properties, and then clicking Click here to activate Windows now.* Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

you will need your Windows product key for activation,

You can find your product key on your computer or on the installation disc holder inside the Windows package.

The product key sticker looks like this:

I was told by my cousin all I had to do was put the New Windows CD in and press any key and go from there. So that's how I was able to install the new Windows Product. Thanks for your assistance

the activation process should give you a toll free phone number for your location, or you can call 1-888-571-2048

but you will need to have that product key number no matter what.

All I had to do was restart the computer and put the New CD inside and press any key so the computer can boot from that CD. Once I did that I was able to install the New Product.

Like everyone else has said, product key or grab a new disc. XP is getting harder to find, though, best to look around on the internet for a CD-ROM. Whatever you do, do NOT upgrade to Vista until they work all the bugs out. I'm getting fed up with all the hanging Windows Explorer, WinAMP and Firefox crashes.

Well smart ass, I was just saying that I have never heard of that when you get a new computer.

But then I got a new computer in 2002. So maybe they have since changed things.
