Default Question about the Penny Era of Good Times on Cable

Doesn't it seem like since this era is the worst of the series, no matter if you turn to TV One or TV Land it seems like it's always season 5 or 6-lol I almost never turn to one of these channels and see james evans

ONLY PENNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damm i hate that character

For some reason those episodes get more play. Even when I was a kid back in the 80's those episodes stay on more. They just breeze through the James years and they just repeat the later episodes . I don't guess Norman Lear has put clauses in the syndication deals telling the networks to downplay the john Amos years

In my area, it was different. WBNX-55 in Cleveland (formerly the WB affiliate, now the CW affiliate) used to show the reruns and they were the first 4 seasons, before Penny showed up. Maybe it just varies from location to location.

Same here. In Atlanta, GA in the early 80's the first episodes I saw of Good Times were the Penny/Keith seasons. Later, when they started re-running the John Amos-era shows I realized what a GREAT show it really was. Up to then I just thought it was ok- standard sitcom. But they always showed the Penny years more.
