Oh No Does anyone else find it hard to say "no"?

I have a co-worker who cannot seem to accept "no" for an answer. She never asks. She commands and really puts you on the spot. Today, she wanted me to do something for her that I just did not have the time to do. I tried politely explaining that I was sorry but I did not have the time, but she kept whining until I finally and firmly said "NO, I won't do it!" She got all huffy and I just know I'll have to hear from the boss tomorrow. I feel bad now for standing up to myself, even though I know I didn't have the time to do what she wanted.

I can't stand people like that! Don't feel bad. Feel proud that you stood up for yourself and do it again if you have to.

It depends on the situation, but normally I would have a hard time saying no. But I would have most likely done the same thing that you did. You can only take so much before you are finally pushed too far.

Today was one of those days where I just wanted to leave and not come back. It's not the kids. It's the co-workers who act like children and idiotic parents who don't want to raise the kids that they brought into this world.

I think I'm gonna go have a huge chocolate sundae right now...

I can't stand people like that. Good for you for standing up for yourself. With those kind of people if you don't put them in their place they will walk all over you.

What did she want you to do?

Oh man, I hate that. This is why I've been trying to develop a backbone because people like this always put up a front and try to bully or guilt you into something you don't want to do.

I had to listen to her again today whine about how "disappointed' she was in me because I wouldn't take time do her job for her. I told her I'm sorry she felt that way but I was just too busy with my own work, then I walked away from her. I'm not going to allow her to make me feel bad about myself for saying I couldn't help her. I'm always glad to lend a hand when needed, but I have my limits.

I have an assistant manager who practically begs me to come in on my days off. Granted, sometimes I would like the extra hour$$$ - but sometimes it's nice to have a day off.
