Kelsey Grammer to direct a 'Lifetime' comedy pilot

Cybill Shepherd has been tapped to star in Lifetime's comedy pilot "Alligator Point," which will be directed by Kelsey Grammer.

Lauren Stamile, Brian Patrick Wade, Robyn Lively, Leslie Jordan, Joel McCrary and Charlie Robinson also have been cast in the multicamera project, from Steve Stark Prods.

Written by Robert Peacock, "Point" revolves around an eccentric group of Floridians who find refuge in the Southern hospitality of Mae's (Shepherd) Oyster Bar. Their lives change when a Yankee (Stamile) becomes part of their disjointed family.

Peacock and Stark, former president of Grammer's Grammnet Prods., are exec producing, with Franco Bario co-exec producing and Grammer producing.

Peacock and Grammnet originally developed "Point" for NBC during the 2002-03 season when it went to pilot starring Nathan Fillion, Jaime Pressly and Paula Marshall as well as McCrary, who will be reprising his role as a boat mechanic in the Lifetime pilot.

Shepherd, repped by Fortitude and Hofflund/Polone, has recurred on Showtime's "The L Word" and USA's "Psych." She next appears in this week's episode of CBS' "Criminal Minds" and the indie "Barry Munday."

Stamile, repped by Gersh and Schumacher Management, recurred on "Grey's Anatomy" and stars in Lifetime's upcoming movie "Midnight Bayou." McCrary is with Stone Manners and Opus.
