Default ESPN Just reported that the Cardinals fired their defensive Coordinator-LOL

He should be fired, there was no reason that defense should have given up a 90 yd TD drive to decided the SB. That IDIOT couldn't figure out how to stop the steelers when it mattered the most and that's why he is gone.

Cool

So in the last two days they've lost their offensive co-ordinator and their defensive co-ordinator. Wow! That's amazing for a team that's just been to the Superbowl.

The Offensive Coordinator left on his own.

Yes, but the bottom line is they have two major vacancies on their staff at the same time. Unusual for a team that just competed for the championship.

That's because NFL Owners think the key to success is steaing offensive or defensive coordinators from other teams who were on winning teams. It rarely works.

Kinda makes you wonder if the owners should stay out of it and let the GM's run the teams. After all that's what the GM's were hired for in the first place isn't it?

Report: Cardinals fire defensive coordinator Pendergast
PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Arizona Cardinals' coaching staff turned over quickly on Friday.

Just hours after offensive coordinator Todd Haley was introduced as the new head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, the Cardinals fired defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast, according to a report in the Arizona Republic.

Pendergast, one of the few holdovers from Dennis Green's regime, spent five years in the position, including the last two under Ken Whisenhunt.

After having the eighth-ranked defense in the NFL in 2005, the Cardinals have struggled on that side of the ball since then, finishing in the bottom half in both scoring and total defense in each of the last three seasons.

Defense was considered the team's Achilles heel throughout the breakout 2008 campaign - until the playoffs rolled around and the Arizona defenders seemed to flip a switch to help lead the team on a surprising Super Bowl run.

In four postseason games, the Cardinals forced 13 turnovers and registered 10 sacks. However, that apparently wasn't good enough to keep Pendergast in charge of a unit that struggled throughout much of the regular season, giving up 331.5 yards and 26.6 points per contest.

Before signing on with the Cardinals in 2004, the 42-year-old Pendergast was the linebackers coach for one season with the Cleveland Browns and previously served time on the coaching staffs of the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Oilers.
