Default Wonder why the producers never gave the Esther Character any good comebacks for Fred

I think that would have made their interactions more classic. But Fred ust always dominated the banters and she just always came back with-"you ole fish eyed fool"

I just wish their interactions was more like George and Florence on the Jeffersons, when both characters have their equal share of good verbal jabs.

I know!! But all in all, Esther was a pretty funny character. Poor Woody - no wonder he drank so much.

Blame the writers not the producers.

I always thought Esther was a great addition to the show. I love how she would go on her religious rants to Fred. They interacted great together.

I love how she was the one who had to bail Fred, Lamont and Rollo out of jail in the X-rated movie episode.

Lawanda Page was a raw actress when she first appeared on Sanford and Son, so she was limited. I read where she had problems with her lines and was about to get replaced when Redd Foxx took her home and worked with her. Yeah, she should have had better comebacks, but I liked her and Fred's interactions better than George and Florence's. You could tell who inspired who.

I liked the Fred/Esther interactions better than the George/Florence ones myself. Classics!

They both had good interactions but I gotta go for Fred and Esther because Fred was so insulting.

Esther did get one good line when she said "Fred Sanford aint a sexy nothin'"

I already have every season that is released of the Jeffersons. George and Florence are funny as hell, but it is something about Fred and Esther that I like better.
