Randy Rhoads "PRETENDER" to the Eddie Van Halen throne??  Gee, the guy had just died a few months earlier, and already, they're bashing him.   Well, Rhoads' death hadn't occurred yet when they were putting together this issue. I guess we'd have to read the article to see what they really said. Probably was no bashing going on, though many did compare him to Eddie.
