Default VH1 Classic...what happened?

Several years ago I discovered VH1 Classic, one of the very select few Music Video stations that actually showed MUSIC VIDEOS ALL DAY LONG!!! I was born in 1991, so I was experiencing all of the classic music videos from the '80s and early half of the '90s, and I loved it. But lately, they only seem to show music videos early in the morning, then the rest of the day they start showing all these theme shows and talk shows and movies I can watch everyday on cable! And the friggin' commercials are OUT OF CONTROL!!!! They only show, like, two to three music videos and a crapload of commercials...most namely the Progressive.com ads with "Flo", "Finally Fast.com" and all these stupid insipid weight loss commercials. And like every ten minutes they do these stupid music video mashups of different artists which grades on my nerves. Seriously, what is so wrong with showing music videos anymore?! I was even enjoying seeing the videos again that I used to see when I was starting school, like the ones by Hootie and the Blowfish, Sheryl Crow and all those people, as well as all the great stuff from the 1980's and early-'90s. And I'm not talking about the ones where Britney's shaking her tootsie in everyone's face, or The Jonas Brothers are singing like their "nads" are stuck in a vice! I'm talking about Michael Jackson, Boy George, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper...all the good artists...and, I'm sorry, it seems they show more videos by Madonna, when they actually show music videos, than by anyone else.

all TV channels are quickly approaching the lowest common denominator; eventually they will all show only Top Gun and Billy Mays infomercials 24 hours a day.

Commercialism killed VH1 Classic.
I remember when there were no commercials other than VH1C bumpers on that network from 2000-2005. I think they started going downhill when they added VJs and started advertising Platinum Weird in early 2006 and the following Fall they got rid of The Vault and threw video blocks over to the early morning hours. I noticed that now VH1 Classic is just used for infomercials of Guitar Hero and Rock Band during the day.
Lately during Morning Video Block and the 80s block, they show the same set of 20 videos on shuffle and have been doing so for three years now because I think they lost rights to most of the collection. I'm still kicking myself for never recording the episode of The Vault that had the video to Robert Palmer's remake of 'It Could Happen to You'. I'm STILL looking for that video on the internet.

I used to live on VH1 Classic, because aside from crappy MTV Hits where they'd show crappy videos, VH1 Classic showed GOOD videos by REAL ARTISTS (not including Madonna...sorry). I even remember their All Request show which was so cool because people were able to call in and ask for their own video picks not to mention the zero amount of commercials they'd show. Nowadays, they only show videos in the morning, or as small snipets in their top 100 One Hit Wonders/'80s Videos/Rock Videos countdowns and the rest of the day they show talk shows featuring has-beens, or this "Guitar Hero" crapola...and do NOT get me started on the CRAZY amount of commercials they show these days! And if I see "Flo" one more time, I will reach into the screen and...I won't go there. But, seriously, VH1 Classic has officially gone the way of regular VH1...I just hope VH1 Classic doesn't start airing classic "Celebrity Rehab" episodes. Also, why is it they are devoting so much time to Heavy Metal all of a sudden?! I HAAAATE Heavy Metal with an UNDYING PASSION!!!!! I think we should all start a petition to get VH1 Classic to return to their original format of nonstop classic videos and NO MORE COMMERCIALS!!!

VH1 loves them some trashy reality shows. These two channels have no reason to exist any longer, imo. Total waste of space.

For a while, VH1 Classic offered an escape from all that CRAP on VH1...now, they seemed to have finally buckled under some sort of pressure (either by network bosses, or idiotic viewers) to start with all the non-musical programming.

Sigh... the good old days.... All I can say is, thank God for YouTube. However, even those videos disappear eventually.

VH1 WAS(and I stress WAS!) a great alternative to MTV. I agree with you Cathy!

People...

We have to fight back! Our TV Stations are being invaded by infomercials and bad reality shows! Instead of saying "What the **** happened to VH1 Classics?" Let's write a petition to save VH1 Classic.

I'm going to urge everyone here for SOS. Save Our Stations.

I'll be making the threads...right now.

I watched a lot of VH1 in the early 90s. Those were good days.

VH1 Classic USED TO BE a really cool video channel...I have no idea what happened. I guess Guitar Hero and talk shows pay better...

MTV in the 80's and 90's used to show great music all day. Now they show a lot of stuff that's doesn't even have to do with music.. blaah. They music all day on VH1 and VH1 Lassic starts everyday at 18.00 in Sweden.

We used to get VH1 Classic. I used to watch it all the time. Then we switched to Wow, and they were not offering VH1 Classic. I guess I'm not missing much.
