Without using the "whole series" - maybe a day's worth of episodes...
Which episodes would you choose or think are the most notable? I want to do a day's marathon next weekend and would like some ideas. I really want a good representation of the show that can be viewed in 24 hours (or around that) -- I'm going to be using the "Get Smart" box set to view these episodes. Thanks! |

The episode with the fictious rock band the Sacred Cows.
That was always one of my faves. |

Thanks for the recommendation. I think that's called "The Groovy Guru". I'm also going by the list on www.wouldyoubelieve.com of fans' favorite episodes and he lists 15 of them. (It's under the "cast your vote" section). Great website BTW. |

Back in 1991 Nick-At-Nite did a marathon of the whole series from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on 7 consecutive nights. It was called Maximum Smart.
Faced with an opportunity like this in the pre-DVD era, I decided to buy a 12-pak of VHS tapes and get all the episodes. I set the alarm to get up for tape changes and, amazingly, managed to do it. For 15 years those tapes served as my Get Smart library until the Time-Life boxset came out. Hard to believe that was 18 years ago...doesn't seem that long somehow Thank God for DVD's, though. Catching a marathon or, worse, recording an episode per day is a very very tedious way for a fan to get what they want.

BTW, here are some of the episodes I plan on viewing (in April) for my marathon - I basically went by Carl's Website's Top 15 episodes (www.wouldyoubelieve.com) as voted by fans -- plus I added 5 more to my list: 20. Ironhand 19. Washington Four, Indians Three 18. Anatomy of A Lover 17. Diplomat's Daughter 16. Mr. Big 15. Schwartz's Island 14. My Nephew, The Spy 13. To Sire, With Love (Both Parts) 12. Snoopy Smart vs. The Red Baron 11. With Love And Twitches 10. Aboard The Orient Express 09. The Impossible Mission 08. And Baby Makes Four (both parts) 07. A Man Called Smart (both parts) 06. The Goovy Guru 05. The Amazing Harry Hoo 04. The Little Black Book (both parts) 03. Ship of Spies (both parts) 02. A Spy For A Spy 01. The Not-So-Great Escape Any additions? I was debating whether to use "Anatomy of A Lover" or Hymie's Debut episode (don't have the name of it off hand). |

I would do a "99 files"...episodes where she makes the important deduction or carries out the important rescue. (Despite what they'll say in promos of the show, that would not be every episode, and it's a smaller percentage than you'd think. Feldon herself, if you've watched some of her interviews, is rather dismissive of the character, as being on the wimpy side.)
