Default is today a federal holiday as well?

in terms of the mail? Normally mail is delivered at my house around 9am. it's 11:40 am (central) and no mail yet.....just wondering because I have things to be mailed and if they are not running today, may as well take them out of the box before I leave for work.

My mail is late too.

According to this, it is not a holiday:

^If you read what I asked, I asked if this was federal holiday TOO.....

my mail ended up being delivered sometime late in the afternoon.....don't know the reason for the delay, possibly the mail carrier had vehicle problems or such--I live on a rural route.

No... yesterday was the first mail day of the week, so it's not surprising that your mail was so late. It's not often there's no mail for two days straight.

^PZelda, actually we have had holidays on monday and the mail was never that late here, but, you know what, it's a moot point....no big thing to sweat about.

I apologize if I seemed cross towards Waterson Fan....I don't like being that way.

And to Rob, I heard it was international back rub day....

It was late because the carriers had to sort both Monday and Tuesday's mail. Anytime there's a federal holiday the mail will most likely be delivered late the following day. If you're accustomed to getting your mail at 9am then you must be one of the first stops on that carriers' route. Also, sub-carriers are often used the day after a holiday and that could be another reason why it was late. Obviously the mail volume for 2 days is going to cause a delay in delivery especially if there were a load of circulars to sort as well.
