If you watch this episode of the old Batman tv show it takes you on a Batmobile ride right through the Gomer Pyle outdoor set and many other parts of the long ago torn down 40 acre backlot .

here is the link if you pause it just as the Batmobile is passing the quonset hut you will see something you never saw before!
The back of the quonset huts on the left hand side of screen in the closing credits They have no back walls!

I had this site bookmarked it was my favorite not just for Batman, but for Mayberry as well.

I use to live in Los Angeles and worked in the Culver City area for a time. The area where 40 acres once stood is now home to warehouses and some small industrial parks. Too bad, really. It should have been preserved as a historical site.
