Default "Bonus Bucks"

Not sure if there was already a thread about the episode "Bonus Bucks"? If there is I'm sorry. Well anyways I want to get fans opinion about the One dollar bill. Now Ricky got a winning dollar for the $300 prize money. And he decides to stick the money in Lucy's purse. So Lucy could find it. Only that Lucy ends up giving away the dollar to the grucery store man. Who in turns gives the winning dollar to Ethel for change. Of course The Ricardos end up getting mad.
Now who do you think was in the right in this episode? Me I think the dollar should of gone to Ethel? I meen Lucy did pay for her grucerys with that dollar bill.So the dollar no longer belong to her. And when Ethel got the dollar it was now hers. Yeah Lucy throws a fit like she always does when she dont get her own way.But the truth was the dollar was now Ethels.
It was also Ricky's fault. Instead of of sticking the dollar in her purse he should of woke her up and told her? Or gone and claimed the money for himself. Yeah I know if he did that then we would not have an episode.
I just felt sorry for Ethel. I meen Lucy always gets what she wants. And finaly something good happens to her and Lucy gets mad.

Yes, you're right. Upon 2 legitimate transactions, the dollar bill became Ethel's, and the Ricardos should have understood that. It's very similar to the Oil Stock episode; the Mertzes bought it first, but the Ricardos got into a routine and seemed to convince them they were entitled to half of it.

It's lousy, but we also have to remember that the Mertzes profited more so by far from the Ricardos than vice versa, as in "Bonus Bucks"... the trips to Hollywood, Europe, and Florida, then near the end they get a lot of weeks of living in the guest house in Connecticut for nothing while there was no revenue from the egg business.

That is one episode that I never liked. Ricky in many ways made so many foolish mistakes in thinking that Lucy would find the bill and be so exited. Then the split bill put in pajamas and the silly trip to the laundromat. The poor Mertz'. Ethel should kept quite and got the $300. When the episode airs, I skip that episode.

Well, Ricky didn't deserve it simply because he put it in Lucy's purse. He's been married to this woman how long?? He had to have known something would happen to it! DUH.

If I had a friend like Lucy. And I won some money I would of kept my mouth shut.
Yeah Ethel knows how Lucy is. she should of known by telling Lucy that she got a winning $1.00 that Lucy would get jealus and mad.
Like I said I always felt sorry for Ethel. She had a cheap husband that never buys her anything. And then when something good comes her way Lucy comes along and spoiles it for her. And come on Lucy had every thing. She spent tons of Ricky's money on clothes that she did not need. Yeah and look how mutch furniture The Ricardos went threw, threw out the series run. If Lucy wanted new furniture she got it. Yeah Ricky tells her no,no,no. But by the end of the episode Lucy ends up getting what she wanted.

ITA with your whole post. The money belonged to Ethel and Fred. Even though it was wrong of Ricky and Lucy to demand half of the money, I can kind of understand it. After all, like you said, the Mertzes were always being treated to things.
