Default How well-known is SO?

SO must surely be one of largest websites devoted to sitcoms on the Internet...I've always felt that it's not as well-known as it ought to be, though.

I post on several other forums and have come across people who know of it and some who have posted here, but I feel it deserves to be better known. I think it's such a great website, with so much information on such a large variety of shows and deserves to be more famous in the world of the Internet.

So how well-known do you think SO is around the Internet, in general?

SO is well-known enough that the website actually ended up in an issue of TV Guide a few years ago. Wonder if I can find that thread...

Aha! And wow, coming up on 6 years since SO was in TV Guide.

As far as internet sites go, I'd say 3rd place!

1st place of course is gonna be YouTube, followed by Flickr.com at 2nd place, then SitcomsOnline.com at 3rd place!

Then when it comes to message board/forum sites, You know SitcomsOnline.com is still gonna come in at first place!

Is it really that well-known on the Internet? It's just that I haven't come across many people who know of it, but then again, the number of people I'm in contact with online isn't that big.

Google searches for "sitcoms," and "tv show message boards" both get the #2 listed website as a result, and the #1 result for "sitcom message board," so it definitely gets a large amount of traffic from people searching for a place to discuss stuff about television/sitcoms.

I agree it should be more well known. I bet if the amount of people who posted on the IMDB boards posted here SO would have more popularity.

I agree with that - but I hope most of them stay at imdb and don't come here!! (There are a lot of loonies over there as I'm sure most of you know.) In any case, this is by far my favorite site.

typing "sitcoms online" into the google search bar without submitting it results in several search suggestions including "sitcoms online chit chat", so it's searched for a lot on there.

That's what I was gonna say. We have enough loonies here as it is...we don't need their "special brand" of loonies!

Then I'd have to start breaking out my weapons and go on an IMDB member-killing spree. How are these guys even still breathing?

You'd think, given that IMDB is such a large website, that they would have set up some kind of moderation system.

I have been to boards on IMDB where they do have some nice people posting and a nice community spirit...but I suppose they must be few and far between.

SO is the place to come for TV!

I agree there are some loonies but there are some loyal fans to shows on imdb.
