Smile Who agrees with me?

I think the best episodes were from 1975-1977 when they were still in high school. When they got to college(1977-1980) it was funny but not as funny. Has anyone noticed that the 1980s episodes sux to bad that they are never shown in syndication?

They are shown in syndication, but NAN would agree with you as far as airtime goes. I wanted to see the later episodes, heck I like the later episodes better. I called Nickelodeon and asked why they never aired the later episodes and they said that "due to viewers repsonse they stopped airing them"

The first 2 seasons were really my favorite but the episodes from 1975-1977 are right there.. the episodes from the 80's weren't the same, but I never thought of them as bad..

I like the later ones better myself, but maybe that's because those are the one I first saw as a little kid. I never even knew there was a Richie Cunningham until I was about 10 or so.

I agree with you Brucie. It's generaly like that with most TV shows or movies, the original seasons or film works out the best, but it changes in time to something similar, but different.

I agree with Ilovefonzie...when I was a kid, I watched the later years in first run. BUT, I always knew who Richie was because the earlier episodes were already in sindication. (We're talking like 1980, 81 here.) Personally, I like the later years better, starting with maybe 1978 or so.

I noitce al ot of the same reaction. Every one likes the older episodes better (inluding me) to start. Most people who have only seen HD via syndiaction or NAN don't like the 80's episodes. I saw most of the episodes first run from about 78-on. So, also like many people who saw the later episodes first run I like them too as they bring back a lot of memories. I also saw the older one s already in syndication by that time.
I think it comes down to this. Like any series, HD aired one episode per week during it's origianl run. It ran for 11 years.
Watching it that way, a viewer had plenty of time to adjust to the changes and in fact grow up with characters like Chachi and Joanie. They also had seven years beofre the changes started,
Seeing them in syndication where they run twice a day, almost every day you see the whole series in a matter of months.
You seem tot get used tot he old episodes and then BANG everything changes.
My opinion anyway.
