Oh No Does it diminish a man's masculinity to report when he is raped by another man?

we were having this argument on the IMDB boards, and someone suggested it diminishes a man's masculinity if he reports to the authorities if another man rapes him. this same person said the man, assuming he is "truly a man" whatever that means, should either suck it up and deal with it and not whine about it like a woman would, or he should fight off his aggressor.

personally, i thought this statement was sick in so many ways. not all people are able to handle the same situation the same way and there is no "correct" way to handle being raped, different people handle it differently and gender should be no indication of how one should handle an event that could potentially scar him/her for life.

opinions?

I've found that a good portion of the people at the IMDB boards are complete morons. No, that doesn't diminish their masculinity. It means they have a brain because they've reported someone who deserves for their ass to be put behind bars. That's more of a man because they made sure that person isn't around to hurt anyone else.

I've found what you say about the people there true. Many of them are like brick walls, you can back up your arguments with legitimate points and they still spew the same **** over and over again.

I think also that anyone raped has an obligation to society to report the person.

I'm a woman who's been raped by another woman, does that diminish my feminity?

I find it crazy that somebody would say something like that, it doesn't matter what gender someone is, being violated like that is horrible and it's not something that a person should be expected to just suck up and get over. Anyone who thinks like that is pretty warped.

He also said any man who can't defend his property against a robber "failed in their duty to be a man", so I agree that he's warped.

I don't think reporting a rape or any other crime makes someone any less of a man, or woman. If anyone should feel ashamed of themselves, it's the perpetrator for committing the crime in the first place.

Or the victim if they don't report the rape. By keeping their mouth shut, it's allowing the rapist to possibly rape again - and maybe even kill the next time. To me, if they do that, then they become accessories to the crime. You ALWAYS report a rape - no matter who does it to whom.

Did he actually say that women whine about rape? Whether it's a man or a woman reporting a rape, they're certainly not whining. It's a serious crime and if this person can't see that, then heaven help him.

No, but it sure diminishes the masculinity of the man who raped him.

The rapee(the guy who got raped) may feel that people might think thta he is homosexual if he reports that he was raped by a man.... That's probably why he would keep quiet about it......

That is a horrible thing to happen to anyone and a serious crime. I think it should be reported to the police no matter what. Otherwise it could happen to someone else.
