...and since some of the "PETTICOAT JUNCTION" cast appear in a few episodes, I got to thinking about those cross-over episode of this, "PETTICOAT JUNCTION" and "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES" and I don't seem to remember any episodes where Oliver & Lisa ever actually met the Clampetts. Were there any? I know a couple times they showed Eb dating Elly May.

Did they meet when Granny went to Hooterville to help deliver Betty Jo's baby? I really can't remember if they did or not. How are you liking the first season dvd so far?

I don't think that Oliver & Lisa ever met the Clampetts.
Besides the PJ episode Granny went to Hooterville to help deliver Betty Jo's baby, there was also a BH episode where Sam Drucker visited the Clampetts to court Granny. In some episode, Jed says "Hooterville's a might fine little town!" But I think that Oliver & Lisa were only on GA. |

Jed spent quite a bit of time in Hooterville when he met Howard Hewes, whom Milburn Drysdale thought was Howard Hughes. Drysdale even brought his bank secretaries to the Shady Rest, who sang to Howard. Jed helped Steve and Betty Jo financially when Steve's cropdusting airplane was inoperative. There was going to be the great Clampett-Hewes merger. Jethro also visited Hooterville as "Buzz Bodine" and asked Steve Elliot to give him flying lessons. He borrowed Uncle Joe's clothes when he got out of the Air Force general's outfit. Jethro once stated he would "marry Billie Jo one day, and Bobbie Jo the next." As a producer, he would (try to) get them into the movies... Elly went as well and cared for baby Kathy Jo at the Shady Rest. And the Clampetts went there for Thanksgiving (see below). Also, Jed helped Drysdale when he went to trial in Hooterville after driving the truck with Fairchild, the drunken bear! (Drysdale was not carrying his driver's license.) As far as Lisa and Oliver meeting the Clampetts, here they are at the table together: ![]() It was the 1968 episode of The Beverly Hillbillies titled "The Thanksgiving Story," Season 7. (Note Jethro's movie producer coat.) Oliver and Lisa were in the ep. I can identify everyone for you, except the guy to Granny's right. It may be Eb, but I'm not sure and I don't know if he was in the episode. I should also add that Lisa and Oliver Douglas did appear on Petticoat Junction too. Sometimes Lisa loaned her clothes to the Bradley sisters. |

Nice autographed pic, thanks for showing it!
According to tv.com, Eb was in that episode, and it looks somewhat like him, so that would be my guess. I don't remember seeing that episode, gotta keep my eyes open for it. |

I'm not sure if that's Eb or not... Hard to recognize him without his hat on.
But, the pic does seem to just have the regulars from those series, as opposed to, say, someone Ellie May might have been dating at the time or something. So it could very well be Eb... hard to tell though. Wow, there's a LOT of talent gathered around that li'l ol' table. And it's a great picture! |

I would love to go back in time and take Max Baer's place at that table. Though to be seated in between Meredith MacRae and Lori Saunders, I probably would have a heart attack!
I miss those actors who have passed away. When a fan visited with Linda Kaye Henning in recent months, there was quite a bit of sadness over the memory of Meredith's passing. They had become such close friends years earlier. Elly May did have some dark-haired suitors, but that looks more like Eb Dawson than anyone paired with her on The Beverly Hillbillies. Thanks for letting me know he was in the Thanksgiving episode; I saw some of the BH Christmas eps this past holiday period, but unfortunately I always seem to miss that Thanksgiving one when it comes around. |

This photo is in the book "The Beverly Hillbillies" A fortieth anniversary wing-ding by Stephen Cox. He lists out the actors in the photo and at least he identifies the person as Tom Lester (Eb Dawson). It's on page 235 if any of you have the book.

Thanks for that info! It would make total sense that it's Eb, but I just had a hard time picturing Eb with that hair. And it also makes sense that, since Oliver and Lisa are in the pic, Eb should be as well! Between Ellie May, Bobbi Jo, Billie Jo, Betty Jo, Lisa Douglas and Dr. Janet Craig (June Lockhart)...wow, lots of beauties! Woah, I almost forgot Granny! Yeah, I'd say Jethro has about the best seat in the house....Steve Elliot lucked out as well! That was an amazing world that Paul Henning created!! |

Thanks for the confirmation regarding Eb...! He wore his hat so often on Green Acres, though sometimes we caught at least a glimpse of his head uncovered.
And I agree that Mike Minor had a nice seat as well (no pun intended, though I'm aware that he was known to have a nice backside)! The more I watch Eva Gabor and Linda Kaye Henning, the more I appreciate their beauty! One last note: I think I should have called Jethro's coat his "Hollywood Agent" jacket, as I know for certain he wore that when he was on his agent kick. I don't remember if he ever wore that same one as a movie producer ("Yes, J.B.!!" -- Elly). He really was on the right track as far as wanting to get Billie and Bobbie into films...! |
