Anyone think that Colin Powell was the mysterious unidentified army officer that placed the medal on Glenn Consagra's grave?

No chance in hell it was Colin Powell. Danny Casolaro's funeral was in 1991 and Colin Powell was already a very recognizable figure at that time as he was appointed the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1989. Someone would have easily recognized him.

When I saw the Casolara segment originally I thought it was James Earl Jones, then when I saw it a year or so back, I thought it was Powell too.

It would've been noticeable since Powell became a full general in 1989 and appointed JCS the same year. |

Sorry. Danny Casolaro.
The reason, i give some creedance to this is that it seems very much in line with what Powell would do. I am also wondering if anyone has asked Powell if it was him. If the Casolaro family had ever thought the same thing and tried to contact him. He would be someone that would know the truth. There could only be so many high ranking african-american army officers back then in the DC area. I am surprised no one has tracked this individual down. He had to be at least a Major, judging by the uniform in the re-enactment. |

Why didn't the family take the medal off the grave to see what it was? That could help alleviate part of the mystery.

Not to make light of the situation but I wonder if this soldier just got turned around and put the medal on the wrong coffin.

Seriously, i think the fact that the officer said nothing to the family or did not aknowledege them says it all. The officer did not want to draw attention to himself. |
