Detroit Lions: Worst in NFL History
Oh my God, my own hometown, Detroit. Isn't that city going through enough? Record unemployment, the auto industries had to be bailed out by the government, their own mayor is in jail, and now, to top it all off, the Lions have lost every game this season!
My hometeam has made history tonight. They are the first team ever to finish the season 0-16. Does anyone else want to kick Detroit? Man, they are having one tough year. I grew up outside of Detroit, and I was never a Lions fan. I used to joke about how bad they were, but... dang! This is awful! I never thought they'd fall this low. What else can a girl from the Motor City say? At least we still have the Red Wings! |

You have the Stanley Cup Champion Red Wings, who have won 3 cups, possibly even 4 in the last 10 years that I can remember. The Pistons have been great as of late and they won a Championship 4/5 years back. Everything evens out, don't worry about it.
Plus, the lions have the worst record in NFL history, but they are NOT the worst, probably the second worst team ever though. The 1976-1977 Bucs were 0-14. They lost 26 STRAIGHT games. Even if they were a inagurial franchise that year and those two seasons, that's pretty bad. |

Oh but the Tigers only won something like 42 games a few years back, and had 119/120 losses that year. That's horrible as well, but it has to be mentioned.

We're used to the Lions losing, but it's still a sucky thing to see happen, ya know?
But yes, we do have our Red Wings and they make us proud. The Tigers have been pretty bad recently too, but that's another one we're used to. But... man, our Lions. This is why people from Michigan pay more attention to college football than pro

Yeah I know what you mean...it's up and down, winning and losing with Detroit sports. Never know what you're going to get.
Btw, not to be rude but your location says "Hershey, PA." Do you live in PA and root for Detroit sports cause you love them, or did you used to live in PA, and now or for awhile you've lived in Michigan? Or maybe like some people I know, they used to live in the state that their favorite team was in, so maybe you used to live in Michigan, and now you live in PA but still root for the Lions, Pistons, Red Wings & Tigers? Just curious. |

I grew up in Michigan. I lived there from elementary school up through college. I do live in Pennsylvania now, but I've only been here for a couple of years. I still think of Detroit as my hometown.

Liza,
many of us can relate to having a VERY bad season. Not historically bad, but bad nonetheless. In my lifetime, the worst Bills season was 3-13 in 2001; Wreckless and Iggles lived through a 3-13 Eagles season in 1998 that preceded the drafting of McNabb and hiring of Andy Reid; Ramona's 4-12 Seahawks also had a bad year, though I'll give them a pass- they had too many injuries and played with a lot of heart (they weren't blown out in embarassing fashion all the time ala the Rams) |

FSU, not only did I have to live with those bad Eagles seasons before the McNabb-Reid era, what about the Phillies? From 1994-2000 they were HORRIBLE. A couple years they only won 60 some games, some years they won barely 70 games. I remember Terry Francona, that bum, was our head coach for a few years, and he said once he was fired that his time in Philly was a mulligan, which is a golf term for having a bad outing, then getting another shot. So after we won the championship this past season, I say to him, par one b*tch!

Heard that the John McKay Bucs 1976 team, that previously held the record.
Popped champagne corks and toasted that. Though I feel really bad for the Lions and their city. |

That QB we should have taken has one Super Bowl ring. ![]() But we didn't take a QB but a RB instead and that was a smart move, since the team that is in the playoffs took that QB and has since dumped him. |

Oh, believe me, I know that we are far from the first team to have a bad season. But we are the first to go 0 out of 16 games.
That's the worst record in NFL history. For the first time in my life, I actually feel like buying Lions' merchandise, just out of pity! And it doesn't help that the city is completely in the dumps right now too. How much lower can you sink when your mayor is in jail? ![]() I know I should have more faith in my good ole' hometeam, but I doubt they're gonna get much better next year either. |

The Lions have the worst record in NFL history but defintely not the Worst Team in NFL history.
Teams I think were worst 2007 Dolphins 2001 Lions 1990 Pats 1976 Bucs |
