I realized that I am not normal. I do not act like a regular 24-year old. I act like a 5 or 6 year old. I think i know why..... When I was five, I jumped into a pool, and I went under the water for quite some time. Two men picked me up and took me to my mother, who was overwhelmed with relief. She did not know I had jumped into the pool. I think the water may have given my brain a lack of oxygen, making me grow up mentally slow. Even when I was six, my grandma told me that I started acting like I didn't have any sense. She told me I used to act normal, then all of a sudden, i started acting 'slow". Maybe the water did that. I told my family about the water scene, and they said that thaty could be a life changing trauma that could make me act like a little kid, even though i am an adult.

Hey! You and I can get along! I NEVER was normal - I've always been different! Most women my age scream their brains out over Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp, or some Hollywood girl that lost major weight - what makes me scream my brains out is anything extremely sweet and cute (normally found on channels like Noggin, or when a certain puppet decides he wants to wiggle his ears and make that really cute sound that accompanies it - see avatar on the left).
Besides, if anyone on this forum can tell me what "normal" is, I'll buy them a pizza! :-) THERE'S NO SUCH THING! |

it depends on how long you were under water. it's true that severe deprivation of oxygen can result in brain damage, but everyone goes a painfully long time without air at some point in their life. when i was younger i sometimes held my breath for a long time as a form of self-injury (as opposed to cutting where there would be a visible mark from it) and i almost drowned in a hot tub as an infant, but many people, including professionals have said that i'm mature for my age.

I wouldn't say I act my age either, but it's not from mental disability or whatever...that's just my personality and how I grew up. Like Joni said...who's normal?? Embrace who you are...advice I need to take myself, sadly.

Well, I don't think I'm normal either cause I was slow as I have a mental disability.
Sometimes I think it's because of my mom smoking when she was pregnant with me. |

Who in the heck wants to be normal? How boring. Embrace the fact that you are different
