Now, I know Wings wasn't a huge hit like Cheers, Seinfeld, and Frasier were, but to lump it with shows like Dharma & Greg, Still Standing, King and Queens, According to Jim, and Yes Dear? Ouch! They listed Becker too, which I never thought was that bad a show. I liked it better than I liked that annoying Everybody Loves Raymond. I actually know quite a few people who watched Wings. Maybe it wasn't one of their favorites, but they watched it and enjoyed it. |

I know what you mean. I know that Wings was never as big as Friends, Cheers, or Sienfeld but the writing was way better and smarter than Yes Dear or King of Queens. I really hate it when they compare Wings to Full House which I liked as a kid b/c I didn't know any better, but as an adult, I can see how lame the show was (no offense to Full House Fans). I actually prefer Wings to Sienfeld. I enjoyed the original run of Sienfeld but can't watch the reruns b/c it seems so over the top whereas with Wings I can rewatch the show over and over again. I recently flew home for Christmas and what do you think saved me from boredom on my flight....you've got it, my laptop and my Wings dvd.
Come to think of it, I never saw what all the fuss was about with Everybody Loves Raymond and Home Improvement. I thought Wings had way better writing. Wings was so underated and I bet you most of the people who don't get the show never really sat down and watched the show to give it a chance. Oh well, if anything this article brought Wings to the attention of people who forgot about Wings but liked the show when it was on NBC and maybe, just maybe rediscover what a remarkable show this was and start rewatching it again. |

At least Wings is always on in reruns somewhere on US television and the full series is on DVD. What about us Night Court fans? WB could care less about the DVD sets (Let's see how S2 does) and TV Land pulled the show because the contract was short.

For the record, I'm a fan of "The King of Queens." However, I do like "Wings" a lot more.
I like "Wings" a thousand times more than Dharma & Greg, Still Standing, According to Jim, Yes Dear and even Seinfeld (for which I'm only a casual fan). "Wings" is my second favorite sitcom of all time. And I watch sitcoms from all the decades. So that's a lot of sitcoms to choose from and I still put "Wings" as #2 (NewsRadio will always be #1 to me). This is a result of the great cast and writing. It's just an awful fact of life. Most people, it seems, considers "Wings" to be a stupid show. I am baffled as to why that is, but that's how it is. I guess that makes it a cult show and we fans know how special the show is. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't come here (or any other messageboards) and talk about "Wings" among fans of the show. For the record: The show can't be *that* unpopular. I mean, they've released the first seven seasons on DVD.
