world entertainment news WENN Actress Kate Beckinsale would love to play Catwoman in the next Batman movie - because she is determined to take on more action roles. Speculation has been growing in recent months over which actress will take on the role of the villainess in a follow-up to this year's The Dark Knight, with internet gossips suggesting that Angelina Jolie is the main contender for the part. But Beckinsale is adamant that if she was offered the chance to star opposite Christian Bale in a new film about the Caped Crusader, she would definitely agree. She tells MTV.com, "Absolutely, that would be awesome. I'd love to do that." And Beckinsale adds that she is keen to add to her action movie portfolio, because starring in the Underworld vampire movie franchise gave her the confidence to tackle more physical films. She adds, "One of the things I've done wrong with my career is not have a massive game plan for it. I was very surprised to ever find myself even considered for an action movie. I'm like the literary, academic geek who's not very good at sports, so it was amazingly shocking that anyone would ever do that. I like to be surprised." http://uk.news.yahoo.com/1/20081224/...e-c60bd6d.html |

she'd make an interesting catwoman and i think that she'd definitely do the character and the film justice.

It'd be nice for the Nolan Batman series to actually have a female character played by a talented and credible actress.

I doubt the Riddler is going to be in the next Batman. If he is, I hope the Depp rumors stop... that wouldn't really even work.
Personally, my favorite rumor is Phillip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin |

From what I have read online in the rumors department, Rachel Weisz is currently the top contender for the Catwoman role.

i understand that some fans don't want the riddler, mainly because he is in many ways, similar to the joker, but if they cast the right guy in the role, i think this could pay off and the film might be a success, after all. |

Unfortunatly, Christopher Nolan said a while back that the Penguin wasn't "realistic" enough to fit into his Batman universe, so I doubt we'll see him in the next movie.
Hoffman played a great villain in Mission Impossible 3, so if they wanted to tweak the Penguin character to be more like that, then it would be cool. But Hoffman would essentially be playing the same character. |
