How did it start out for you guys?
For some of us, it's because of where we were born (Ramona and myself) |

the year was 1980. I was 6 years old. My grandfather knew the head of security at giants stadium. He took me to my first football game & it was against the eagles. He got me down to the tunnel where the players come out. I was standing there with a football waiting for some players to sign my football.. Some of the giants players came walking on by me with barely a glance at me. 5 different eagle players stopped & told me they would sign my football after they warmed up & i remember the quote exactly from one of them. " hey little man, I have to go throw the football around, but if you wait right there i will come see you after"...
That person was JAWS.. I had no idea then just how much that meant to me. From that moment on I rooted for the eagles. My grandfather took me to that game hoping to lock me in as a giants fan.... Boy did that backfire in his face.....

My mom's friend got us into it. He was a big Chargers fan...
Think it was when I was 10 or 11 cause I remember going and having the parking spot and eating... Used to go to games but there was one year when we got the spot taken away from a radio station and the Chargers have changed things with parking so we didn't go anymore. |

I became a Cowboys' fan gradually. I had never really followed football but all the kids started playing it in elementary school. I started watching some of the games on TV. My Dad was a Baltimore Colts fan but they were bad at the time so I wasn't interested in that team. I then discovered the Cowboys. I always liked TV Westerns and even though I had never been to Dallas , I always was fascinated with the state of Texas. And then their was Tom Landry. I thought he was just a great coach. He was always calm and collective. Roger was the QB then and I just fell in love with the team....of course they had the cheerleaders...the whole package.
Back then most of the teams that were on my local station were the Cowboys, Steelers, Redskins and Dolphins so chances are I would have became a fan of one of those but the Cowboys it was. As it turned out it was 1975 and the Cowboys ended up going to the SB that year where they lost to the Steelers. The rest is history.

In 1981, my mother bought me a pair of Redskin mittens. I was seven. That made me started following the Redskins. It was great timing, because my 3 older brothers were Cowboys fans, and I knew I wasn't going to like them Art Monk and Joe Gibbs first came to the Skins that year and the rest is history. I have been a fan for 27 years!

Took me a while to gain an interest in sports..I was 13, and it was late in the 1997 season I started watching the Vikings (I'm from MN). The next season was about as good and bad as it gets as a fan of football, particularly a Viking fan.
