Default TWY - Unedited DVD set

Hi all.
I first watched TWY in the UK during it's first run in 1988 when I was the same age as K.A. & co.
Fast forward to 2008, I just finished completing my TWY DVD collection.

I'm not talking about those dodgy sets off the internet but a set I've sourced myself, first generation off digital tv broadcasts

I relied on recent ITV3 broadcasts of the show which were unedited for length. I then loaded them all into Sony Vegas, edited out the ads and replaced parts of the soundtrack back to its original state using some older VHS and even Beta (!) tapes as audio source.

(The ITV3 broadcasts were the right length but used the syndicated soundtracks).

This was an exhaustive process taking weeks to do but I now have a complete set, recorded off digital tv, as it would've originally aired in the 80s and 90s. This is the closest I'll get til they (ever) decide to give the series an official release.

I'm thinking about making the set publicly available. (This set is currently in PAL format). There are 4 episodes per disc so it must run to about 30 discs I think. I won't squeeze any more onto the discs because I want to preserve quality.

Hello!

I too have been a long time Wonder Years fan, and have been dismayed that we may never get an official release of this wonderful show, at least not with the original tunes entact!

Anyway, recently I acquired a complete set of DVDs from someone on Ebay. The quality is better than what I have heard about from other places that have sold these "unofficial" DVDs online, but it's still not quite to my satisfaction. This particular site has all 115 episodes on 15 DVDs (that's 8 per disk.) Right now I'm about 1/3 through watching the series (for the first time in c. 20 years!) On a scale of 1-10, most of them are about a "7", but there are many (including the beloved pilot) that are only "average" and some even have occasional glitching in them.

Anyway, I saw your posting and as a fellow WY fan, was wondering if the two of us could help each other out. I would love to get a better copy, and would be happy to pay for your time and materials. But first, just wanted to mention that since I am here in the USA, I wouldn't be able to play "PAL" disks. Could you convert them to NTSC or make copies which are "Region Free"? Ideally, the disks would be "-R" in Region 1. However, I have a second DVD player that can play "+R", which would mean it can play "Region Free" disks from Europe.

Also, just a thought on something you mentioned in your post. You said you may make the disks "publicly available". Not sure what the laws are over there, but I know in the USA you have to be really careful about selling bootleg or unofficial merchandise. The lady I bought this set off from on Ebay had her future listings pulled (and almost got kicked off). So you may want to be cautious about selling them or advertising them on a public web site.

Look forward to hearing from you! My email is rons@attorneymarketing.net
