On July 4th of this year, Went to Gettysburg today with my dad... He said we were leaving at 8 but since his wife and kids were going to New York, we had to wait on them to leave first.. I do not understand why though so we got to Gettysburg just after 11am. Left the house at like 10, we left soon after they left.. Maybe it's a family thing or something.. I was kinda annoyed and thought my dad was a bit annoyed we couldn't leave earlier...
Saw a 20 minute show of the war, Morgan Freeman was the narrator and Sam Waterston was the voice of Abe. Here are some pictures... The Civil War cemetary at the National Cemetary. This is the unknown graves. Grave of a known soldier.

The marker at the foreground shows what state and how many are buried behind the marker.

yes, I've been to it, twice. It's a nice place. Did you get to see the "electric map" that explains the whole park, and the civil war?
I suggest you start with that, since it'll give you a perscective about the place. Did you also see the place where Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address? |

Yes, I have been to Gettysburg. I was there April 17, 2005. I spent the night there, too, actually, my motel was located to the north of town on PA 34 towards Biglerville; those in town were TOO expensive. I drove past the battlefield but didn't stop (looked and thought to myself, this is it!) when driving along Business US 15, which is Steinwehr Avenue south of Baltimore Pike (which becomes PA 97 east of mainline US 15) and Emmitsburg Road south of town.

Yes, I have been to Gettysburg for about a week back in the summer of 1999. It was an 8th grade graduation present from my godparents.
We drove there from NY which was a long drive. We stood at the Gettysburg Inn which was in the center of the town. I remember the battle fields. The land is HUGE so we drove around the fields in our car with one of those "tour-tapes". It was a cassette tape that you purchased where a voice tells you what you are seeing and where you are driving to next; a self-tour rather than those tour groups. I also remember the ghost/haunted tour. We walked around the town around 10pm through the fields and cemeteries where a guide gives the "haunted history". I've been on ghost tours so far in NYC, Boston, Washington D.C., Vermont, California (Alcatraz), and Gettysburg. Also, what I remember was the movie-debate we had our last night in Gettysburg. My cousin wanted to see Will Smith's Wild Wild West whereas I wanted to see Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. This was a HUGE argument that lasted a whole day so my godmother took her son to West and my godfather took me to Austin Powes. He didn't find it amusing. |

We never got to see the battlefield. Because it was kinda raining and we got a late start because my goofy dad had to wait for my stepmom and half siblings to leave for New York. Did get to see Eisenhower's house that he had near there though. Just saw the house really fast.. Dad didn't want to wait for the next bus would come in 30 minutes so we walked out of the house really fast and got the bus. Sounded like me when I don't want to wait another half hour for the next bus when I am at home.
