Default I'm Confused... About the Ladies

There's a girl I work with and I had a feeling that she might have a crush on me, which is great considering I've never had a girlfriend before. However, I am completely shy in person. So I had to slowly start talking to her. Anyways, today at work I told her that tomorrow (the 16th) is my birthday. This lead into a conversation. So we're talking and the conversation's going great. I'm being funny... she's laughing. It's like I was a normal person having a normal conversation (which I guess I was). The point of this story is that as we're talking and I think everything is going great, then she starts mentioning her boyfriend. You read it correctly. I said "boyfriend." So I guess I was wrong about her liking me. I mean like *that* anyways.

I know my friends will tell me it doesn't matter if she has a boyfriend. Until she's married, I can still step in. However, I don't want to be someone who tries to break a couple up, just so I can date the girl.

So, yeah. I'm confused. Every girl I think likes me... doesn't. Does that mean that every girl I think doesn't like me does? Because there are some serious possibilities there, lol.

I think perhaps you read her wrong. That stuff has happened to me in the past as well. If a girl drops the word "boyfriend" in a conversation, that is a good indication that she has no interest in you romantically. Sorry Adam.

Adam, she might be flirting and might be flirtaeous with a lotta guys. You said she only has a boyfriend. So she is not tied down with a ring, she is not married nor has kids either, correct? My friends, other people I've know before and definitely myself as well have also had this situation happen to us before, when it comes to women. Sorry ladies but some women talk to other guys, while they have a bf at the moment. She could be that kind of woman or she could also be in a perhaps abusive or unhappy relationship, and she can't get out of it or fix it (emotionally). So talking to you comforts her, she most likely likes you, if you have had these kind of talks most frequently and you have known and confined in her and she wants to go past getting to know you, if you know what I mean. Good luck with it all and hopefully I didn't confuse anybody including yourself, with what I said as far as how SOME women are. Women are gentle beings, so just make sure you don't hurt her feelings in the meantime.

So do men dear, so do men. And talking to other guys isn't cheating, a woman can talk to whoever she pleases.

Adam, she may feel that you would make a good friend for her, someone she could trust and talk to about her problems. You may become her go to guy when she has trouble with her boyfriend, which could lead to something later on. Just hang tight and be her friend and see what happens, you may just remain good friends, or you may become more one day

Let me just say that this is the story of my life, and I've made the mistake enough times for me to realize that you shouldn't let yourself fall too hard for a person if you're not completely sure they like you back. For now, keep up the friendship but don't let your feelings for her get too strong unless she shows some serious signs that she has feelings for you back. Good luck with everything.

I know lol not even gonna lie and I know. I didn't wanna come off as an a-hole, saying only women do this and men don't, and that ALL women cheat when they don't. Afterwards, I was trying to justify and explain what I meant by that, so please don't be offended IF I offended you or other ladies on this board lol.

Just because she has a bf doesn't mean she doesn't like you. But I agree with you I would not want to get between two people and try to break them up. Don't worry you have your whole life to have relationships. It will happen that one girl will come along and you will fall head over heels in love.

yeah it's pretty much human nature. when we're attracted to someone and they're friendly to us, we tend to think they like us in the same way.

Been there, Adam. But I have faith that the right girl is out there for you.

If I had a nickel for every time some girl dropped the B word into the conversation.

Walk away Adam. Do not try to be her friend and hope she'll eventually come around. It rarely works.

...and you can rest assured that understanding women never gets any easier; in fact i believe that it is best to remain totally oblivious and just wait until one of them tackles you.

Adam, your friends are right. It's not right to ever break up a couple just because you like the girl. Besides, no one wants to be called a 'player' or a 'wrecker' - which is exactly what might happen if you tried it.

It sounds to me like you're probably just anxious since you've never had a steady girlfriend before. I'd start slow and make friends with girls and see how far it goes. Lots of times, they've turned into solid relationships!
