That's my hair, wet, with the camera flash on.
I'm scared.
Tell me I'm being ridiculous, I don't care.
But I am concerned.

That is after;

-5 months of seborrheic dermatitis in that area (it's the whole back that has thinned as well, and the problem was there too)
-using medicated shampoo and rubbing it into my scalp in that area, a process which caused a lot of hair loss

But my picture looks identical to pictures of people I found on different sites experiencing actual baldness, and I'm scared. Not gonna lie.

Have you been to a doctor about it? If not, maybe now is the time. If so, explain that you're still having this problem and if anything else can help.

BTW, I LOVE how you're dressed in your third pic. Seriously. I like things goth (if that's what it is - if not, I apologize, but love it anyways)

Your hair is just fine. I know your concern, I have Lichen Planus and it's currently in my scalp (do you use Stieprox shampoo for it?)

Lichen Planus can also cause permanent hair loss, but luckily I haven't experienced that even though I am losing a lot of hair.

We naturally shed hair at this time of the year though - especially on the crown of the head where yours is. It's probably a bit of a combination of both but I'm positive it'll "fill in" if you feel it's light in that area (doesn't look bad to us).

And I agree, it probably has been brought on by stress. Try to chill a bit and remember to use a wide tooth comb whenever it's wet and pat dry with a towel to reduce the stress on it.

well, my doctor said that hair loss is due to the seborrheic dermatitis i had, which is now mostly gone. although everyone tells me my hair only looks like it's thinning when its wet, and otherwise it looks fine.

i also had that area thinned with a razor a few months ago as well.

so it's probably a combination of the dermatitis, the thinned pieces, and natural hair loss.

the rest of my hair (sides and back) are thickening though. which is good. and my bangs are growing and nothing falls out there.

Let me tell you, going bald is not easy for some. I'm 23 and I lost the hair on top of my head when I was 19 going on 20.

When I was in high school I was in the "rock crowd" if you will and I had hair past my shoulders; thick dark brown hair. When I was about 16 or 17 I noticed the hair in the front and back of my hair thinning a little bit. It became really noticeable around after I graduated high school. Instead of trying to keep my hair and do the dreaded come-over I decided to shave my head. I sport the shaved look today or I grow the hair on my sides and back of my head into a stubble (like Jason Statham) and I shave it when it grows in thicker.

When I was first losing my hair I went to the doctor and was examined. He said there was nothing at all medically wrong with me but that my testosterone was high for someone my age. He said I had the body of an 18 year old when I was 16 1/2. Also, around the time I was losing my hair my body hair started to grow in a lot more; chest, legs, back of my shoulders.. etc which was related to my testosterone growth.

When I first started losing my hair I hated it. I didn't understand why it was happening to me, especially when there is no baldness in my family. My 61 year old father still has his hair.

Everyone loses hair for different reasons. Some it's genetic or biological related, others it's stress, and some have some medical condition that could be reversed. I'm not familiar with the medical issues that can cause baldness so I can't help you there.

All I can say is that it happens sometimes and it really isn't the end of the world. I realized that and now being bald doesn't affect my feelings or my daily life.

I don't see a difference. You can't judge from the thickness of the sides and back, as male pattern baldness oftens starts at the crown or front. That's why we see those guys with thick ponytails who are just about bald on top. I heard a rule of thumb once. If you think you're going bald, you are. Who knows if that's true. If your hair is thinning, it's most likely temporary. I think you just have to wait it out and see what happens. Try not to stress about it, as stress causes hair loss.

when my seborrheic dermatitis was at its worst, i lost a lot of hair EVERYWHERE. i think it might look thinner at the top now while the rest got thicker, because that's where my cowlick/hairline is, but it never hurts to be cautious.

also I don't think the "if you think you're going bald, you are" thing is true, my dad said the exact same thing i'm saying now when he still lived here and at most he has a slightly receding hairline, which hasn't even changed in 6 years.

Do you know if your mom's father was bald? It actually runs on the maternal side of the family. My father was bald (with fringe) by his mid twenties yet both sons have full heads of hair still into their 50s.

If anything, I'm the one with the hairline problem. I've always had the Bob Eubanks Receding at the sides.

He had a receding hairline around age 40 and ended up totally bald by 65. That's actually not true about it being the mother's father, my dad has almost all of his hair and his maternal grandfather was 100% bald by his age.

If that was true, you wouldn't ever see two brothers, one bald and one with hair, which is quite common.

LMAO but my grandfather contributed all the bad genetics into the family. from his family, there is breast cancer, brain tumors, heart problems, baldness, skin cancers, etc. my dad's family (apart from the cigarette smokers) lived into their 90s, had all their hair except one of my uncles, and my maternal grandmother's side has no baldness, no cancer, etc.
