Default Do you consider a person a friend if you haven't seen or talked to them in years?

I do. There are these two guys, who I haven't seen or talked to in ages, to me they are still some of the best friends I have ever had. Yeah, we fell out of touch, but that doesn't been you should stop being friends. It just means some people get on to other things. Short company does make long friends, and long company make short friends. To me, friendship is in the heart, it doesn't have to be physical. Anyone else has friends they haven't seen or heard of in ages?

if we've completely gone our separate ways, then not really, to be honest. my childhood was totally filled with close friends moving to other states. it was ridiculous. it's not that i no longer care...in fact sometimes i try to find these people on the internet. but i just don't consider myself to be friends with someone i grew apart from a long time ago.

I don't know if I'd still call them friends, but there are people that I haven't spoken to in a few years that I still like and value. I met one of them a few times in the recent months, the last time being about a month ago at a friend's 21st birthday party, and spoke to him a few times. I'd like to become friends with him again, but don't have his contact details so don't know how I would go about it.

I had a friend in high school named John (who was one of my best friends), but after I went away to college and came back he had moved away. Have tried to track him down several times, but never had any luck. We always got along so well and had so much fun back in those days. Hope he's happy and doing well today (haven't seen him since like 1991-92). I guess if it's meant for me to run into him again it will happen. Just leaving it in God's hands.

That's sort of what happened with me between the two friends I mentioned. We were all in college when we last saw each other. (All of us going to different schools)

Yes, I have a several friends that have moved away and I still consider them my friends even though we hardly ever see each other.

Absolutely! I have friends that go back to childhood; some of them I'm no longer in contact with, but I still very much consider them friends, and always will. We took different paths in life, but the bonds are unbreakable. How do I know? I just do. You can't explain it.

If the last time we saw/talked to each other was on good terms, yes.

Yup I do. As a matter of fact, I recently got in touch with 3 people I hung out with in middle school when I was 14. One of the girls and I are going to get together to catch up. Turns out she kept letters I sent her back then and scanned them to me. What a riot reading that silly stuff from soooooo long ago. It was like no time had passed at all and I'm looking forward to getting together.

it all depends. i've had so many friends from high school who i've lost touch with over the past couple of years. they moved away and i tried so hard to stay in touch. but most of them just became busy with their new lives and never stayed in touch. now when they are in town, they don't contact me to see how i am or to hang out. so no, i don't really consider them friends. but if they ever did conact me, i wouldn't have anything against them and would be willing to hangout or talk. it's hard for me to erase a person from my life, even if i haven't talked to them in years. there's people from elementary school i still see once in a while. i'd consider them friends. we were close at one time, so why not.
