My family and I never ever had this problem before at all until recently around August I think. Stuff that we have outside in our front yard are being taken.
Last summer my bicycle that I keep in my yard (i never had it chained) was taken during the wee hours. Then a few months later someone ran off with my parents little table and chair set (2 chairs) that they sit in front of the house on. Then last week someone stole about 3 umbrellas that we left outside to dry in front of our front door. I swear if I see someone take anything else of ours of our property I'm chasing them with my baseball bat down the street; and I don't care if I get arrested. We NEVER had this problem before at all so we didn't think twice about leaving things outside of our house. Now unfortunately things are changing... |

set up a webcam to watch the yard through a window, some software will let you put it on a "motion detect" setting so it will record whenever there is movement, and make sure you put up some lights - which may help deter thieves as well.
i dont leave anything outside - they stole the "BEWARE OF DOG" sign right off my back fence (I'm thinking of rigging a new one up with a dye pack, or a bag of dog urine) |

I hope you're able to get things resolved, James.

Well I know one thing people are desperate for money right now. Everyone should be cautious. I don't really have anything of value in the front except our Xmas lights. Luckily this neighboor hood is pretty quiet. The camera thing would be cool. Then you could catch it all on tape and file with the police.

- either that or plant a bunch of poison ivy in your yard and leave some crappy bikes sitting in the middle of it |

Yeah that is pretty wild stuff, but I would never take it that far.

never had this happen but we live in a culdesac and the houses are very close to each other and we're friends with the neighbors on each side and across the street and we all watch out for each other. however, when i was a kid we lived in a rural town where the houses are spread apart and our driveway was very long making our house being set back far from the road. my dad had this cart thing that you put the trash cans on and of course someone stole it and then stole our recycling bins!
