TV Christmas Episode

I'm a new viewer of I Dream of Jeanie. I've only watched the first season. I'd like to know though, is there a Christmas episode of "..Jeanie". I've looked at the episode guide and no where is Christmas mentioned. Closest description to what might be a Christmas show is the Goes to Honolulu December episode.

You long time fans, tell me if there is a Christmas episode and which is it if so?

There is absolutely no christmas episode of "I Dream Of Jeannie"...I always thought it was a shame they didn't produce one in the 5 seasons the show was on the air......some confusion might arrise because recently "I Dream Of Jeannie" was mentioned as part of the upcoming 2008 WGN America Christmas marathon.

I was so wondering about that--Jeannie would have made Christmas fun! Like blinking in Santa or zapping Tony and Roger by accident to the North Pole

Not only were there no Christmas episodes - there were no holiday episodes at all. The closest we ever got to a "holiday" episode was My Master, the Ghostbreaker, which sort of goes along with Halloween.

If you can get into some fan-fiction, we have Jeannie holiday fan-fictions on our website - I'll be linking all of our Christmas fan-fictions directly to the front of the website, sometime this weekend.

Perhaps Jeannie didn't observe Christmas. One other reason why they didn't do a Christmas episode might be because the show was based in Florida, not known as a cold weather state with snow. So maybe they thought doing a Christmas episode in Florida would be inappropriate. Still, had they decided to do a Christmas episode there would have been potential for zaniness and visual gags as all Jeannie would have had to do is blink her eyes to make it snow, something she did at least once anyway in one of the series episodes.

Default There were no Christmas episodes...

...because creator/producer/head writer Sidney Sheldon didn't want to produce one. The closest he came to mentioning a holiday was a brief "tag", seen only at the end of the original network telecast of "My Master, the Author" [12/26/66], where Larry Hagman, out of character, appeared on the patio set to wish viewers, "from the cast and crew of 'I DREAM OF JEANNIE'", a "happy holiday" and a "happier New Year". "Jeannie" [Barbara], next to him, blinks...and snow starts to fall over them. She giggles as the scene fades to black. I saw this, through a film collector, years ago, and I have no idea where that piece of film is now...

I don't know what religion Sidney was but many times that factored in if the creator/producer/head writer didn't celebrate in regarding if a series did a holiday show.

Sidney celebrated Christmas, from everything I've read and been told about him. That's not what kept him from doing holiday episodes. The story goes was that he was thinking ahead to syndication, and that holiday episodes create complications. He knew that when it came to 2, 3 and 4 part episodes, too. But holiday episodes are a little different from the 2 and 4 parters, as many stations that run syndicated shows don't want to play Christmas episodes in the middle of July. So Sidney just said, "no holiday episodes".

I remember seeing the above mentioned clip, when the show was originally on TV in the 60s. But I don't think I've seen it since. I also remember the contest that ran in season 2 (during the 4 parter that includes the 2 episodes "The Girl Who Never Had a Birthday", the Super Man episode, and the Caruso episode).

Lets not forget once again Tony and Roger would have to come up with another wild explanation to Dr. Bellows if Jeannie did make it snow in Florida.

Hey,
In response to TV Knowledge Fan's above post as to having seen this "holiday tag" years ago that a collector had, do you remember who the collector was that had it, if he might know where it could be found or who one might contact? It would be great to get in contact with him or someone who has any information on this rare piece of footage.

Thanks...and I am always impressed with your vast body of TV Knowledge!
