Sad Remembering John Lennon 10-09-40 -12-08-80

Today is the 28th anniversary of Lennon's murder by derranged fan Mark David Chapman in New York city.

On this day we also lost country legend Marty Robbins after complications from heart surgery 1982 and Dimebag Darrell of Damageplan and formerly Pantera who was shot to death onstage in 2004.

I hardly remember it, but if I heard about it I couldn't quite understand the commotion. After all, I was 8 at the time, and I probably didn't know who he was--or who the Beatles were, for that matter! More recently I remember reading a thread elsewhere where people said that they went so far as to take work off. I couldn't understand why they were going through the same kind of mentality as when JFK was shot 17 years earlier.

Tsk, tsk, Mr. Robbins died in 1982.

I appreciate the correction but was the Tsk, tsk really necessary? It reminds me of my old 3rd grade teacher who when correcting her students would almost always go tsk, tsk before doing so. The error has been corrected and thanks again.

Marty Robbins died Dec. 8, 1982 following complications from cardiac surgery. Also, I am a huge Beatles fan & miss John & George very much. Their legacies will live on forever & they will never be forgotten. Also, here is an interesting Beatles side note pertaining to Paul McCartney (the connections you will definitely notice.)

John Lennon - (Paul's Beatle Bandmate) died - Dec. 8, 1980

Paul's grand-daughter Bailey Willis (by daughter Stella) born - Dec. 8, 2006

George Harrison - (Paul's Beatle Bandmate) born - Feb. 25, 1943

Paul's grand-son Miller Willis (by daughter Stella) born - Feb. 25, 2005

Isn't that ironic as hell!! Two of his grand-children born on the exact same days as his bandmates birth & death dates!!!! It's like a constant reminder. You couldn't help but think abt it!! He has a double shot of things in his life to think abt & remember. What are the odds.............

Also, just found out that Linda McCartney married her first husband, John Melvin See, Jr. on June 18, 1962------- PAUL McCARTNEY'S 20th BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! MY GOD AT ALL THE ODDS!!!!!!!! Wonder what else we can find he has a connection to?????

You're right, Don't know why I was thinking it was cancer. God help me, I can't do anything right.

I remember that Monday morning so vividly. He was shot Sunday night, but I didn't get the news until the morning. What an incredibly shocking and sad day. 1980 sucked for me - the loss of my father in June and then John's murder in December. Hard to believe it was that long ago now.

John, we'll never forget the legendary contribution you made to this world.

Just IMAGINE.

Sad

I was only a year old when John passed, but have greatly appreciated his music and especially his songwriting skills over the years. We miss you, love.

John was quite simply the greatest songwriter who ever lived. His music spoke to the mind, the soul and the heart. RIP, John.
