Hi Everyone. I've been looking so long for real I Love Lucy Scripts from the show and finally located them. If anyone else wants to get some for their collection I found them at HollywoodScriptShop or you can check it out here:
http://www.HollywoodScriptShop.com/I...y_Scripts.html They're really cool and I've been reading them for the past couple days now. Going to frame them soon! Enjoy. "Hello Friends. I'm your Vitameatavegamin Girl. Are you tired, run down and listless? Do you poop out at parties? Are you unpopular? The answer to all your problems is in this little bottle" -- Lucy Does A TV Show, Show No. 30, April 4th 1952. |

I don't want to burst anyones bubble, but if they were the original scripts from the show and not available anywhere else then why is it that they are only charging $9.95? If it was the original scripts that the actors held in their hands and read from and could not be tracked down, it would be worth alot more then $10. All I'm saying is be careful, it's not alot of money to lose but when you have your heart set on something that you really want and think you are getting, it can really break your heart. This could be people that are just copying from copyrighted material and making money off very loyal fans who will buy anything to get a piece of history with their favorite show. Again, I'm not trying to bring anyone down, just take it from someone who has been ripped off in the past.

These are not original scripts that were used in the show. Those originals, complete with margin notations/corrections by the actors, director, etc. were kept in Lucy's home on bookshelves, leatherbound and preserved. Now that Lucy is gone, it's safe to assume that those original scripts are part of her estate and either reside in the Lucy-Desi museum or are kept as personal posessions by one of her and Desi's two children.
These scripts could be photocopies, but even more likely is that someone sat down in front of the tv and typed up all the dialogue while watching an ILL episode, stuck in some stage directions, etc, and are now trying to sell these "scripts" for $10 a pop. If you're looking for scripts that Lucy, Desi, Vivian, Bill, etc. held in their hands, you'll be looking forever. The only way you'll see those is maybe behind a glass case in a museum. |

A few years ago at the 2004 Memorial Day weekend festival in Jamestown a script used on the show from I believe was "Lucy and Bob Hope" was auctioned off. The price went high, I don't remember how high or the details, but I remember looking at the script before the auction where it sat in a case.
Sometimes scripts do pop up, I remember one script that was Desi's appearing on Ebay awhile back for big $$$$$ was in a charity auction, but most scripts of Lucy's series I see are from 1960s and 1970s, and even then most were people who were crew members and not cast members. At Bowling Green State University in the popular culture collection there are 5 Comedy Hour scripts, the ones from the 1958-1959 season. Someone who was associated with Westinghouse who was an alumni donated a bunch of scripts from Westinghouse sponsored programs, including the Desilu Playhouse from that year. Years ago I made a complete photocopy of the "Lucy Wants A Career" script and I have that copy somewhere, but I have never sat down and watched the show and went through the script at the same time. If I ever find it within all my other stuff, maybe someday I will. It has been awhile since I was there at BGSU's library, but I don't remember looking at the scripts for the Mexico, Danny Thomas, Red Skelton or the "Summer Vacation" episodes. Bonus points if someone can name who a big personality in comedy is an alumni to BGSU, pretty much got his start there, and has been in the process of making his collection from his career available to the university. |

These scripts are probably copies, not the originals.
