Los Angeles (E! Online) – We get to go to bed with Jimmy Fallon even sooner than we expected. NBC confirmed today that the former SNLer's late-night dry run, which will be online only at first, begins Monday night—or technically Tuesday morning at 12:35 a.m. While Fallon has been called upon to fill the sizable shoes of departing Late Night host Conan O'Brien, these initial five-minute webisodes will be less like mini talk shows and more like free-form, (hopefully) funny video diaries for Fallon to catch us up on what life has been like for him as he prepares to take over one of the most coveted jobs in television. Either way, it should give us a taste of what it will be like to watch him on a nightly basis. Also Monday, NBC is planning to announce an official premiere date for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. (FYI, it's expected to be March 2, according to Variety, which also reports that jazzy hip-hoppers the Roots are poised to be the show's house band.) O'Brien, meanwhile, will begin his Tonight Show gig on June 1 after what will surely be a laughter-and-tears-filled goodbye blowout for outgoing host Jay Leno. |
