Default Proof that the character "Jack" was not gay

The "gay" thread was locked. I didn't have time to read through all of it so I don't know why it was locked, but there is one episode that absolutely PROVES Jack was straight.

It's the one where Larry used Jack's name and the girl called to say she was pregnant. Then Jack got worried thinking he got his girlfriend Linda pregnant. He showed genuine worry and even went so far as to propose to Linda so obviously he thought he got her pregnant.

NOT GAY.

That act alone wouldn't necessarily prove that he wasn't; he probably did so out of a feeling of obligation more than anything else.

However, Roper and Furley aside, no one else on the show thought Jack was gay - they knew it was a ruse so that Roper (and later Furley) would allow him to live with two women.

I think we all know if Jack had his way, he would have had a threesome with Janet and Chrissy.

It proved that he had been having sexual relations with Linda since he got so worried about getting her pregnant. Linda was definitely a woman!

Gay men have had sex with women, sometimes out of expermentation or sometimes to try and turn themselves straight because they're ashamed of their true sexuality.

But like I said, Jack was all man, straight but just because a gay man has sex with a woman, it doesn't necessarily mean he's straight or even bi.

I have known of cases in which gay men have gone as far as getting married and having children before realising and excepting the fact that they are gay! This is one of the reasons way divorce was so common in the late seventies, eighties and early nineties. A good book to read if you are not sure what I am writing about is called "Daddy's Roommate".

lol that's what I was thinking. I've never heard of this before. I think it was obvious enough he wasn't gay because of his constant flirting with women (seemed pretty sincere to me), with his eyes always on one of the girls or another girl.

I have to agree - the thought never crossed my mind that Jack might be gay. Of course he wasn't gay.

What's the point in bringing this up again? He's not gay - let's end it at that

He wasn't and while we are on the subject for some people, John wasn't either.

The man once had 3 different dinner dates with different women at the same time! And he kept them all (with hilarity ensuing, of course)! That tells you all you need to know.

I always liked how they used Roper and Furley thinking Jack was gay in the comic lines and Jack having fun with it. They used it right up to the final episode where Jack tells Mr. Furley that moving in with a girl is a big step for him and that being around a macho guy like Furley was bound to rub off LOL!!

He was just submissive/passive not gay.

Remember this scene

Jack-"I have no backbone I'm nothing but a spineless jellyfish"

Janet-"that's what we always loved about you"
