TV John Stamos Planning A 'Full House' Remake?

The cast of 90s sitcom Full House is planning to return to the small screen in an up-to-date version of the show that launched the careers of the Olsen Twins.

Mary-Kate and Ashley found fame sharing the role of little Michelle Elizabeth Tanner in the comedy, which ran from 1987 to 1995. It also made stars out of cast members Bob Saget, John Stamos, Jodie Sweetin, Davie Coulier and Candace Cameron Bure. And Stamos is plotting to reunite at least some of the cast for a "semi-remake."

Cameron Bure tells OK! Magazine, "John has been working on a semi-remake of Full House. I know it would involve me and Jodie Sweetin. We would revive our characters, but today as young women."

Ok, they decided to skip the Tanner Family variety hour and go straight for the Tanner Brides!

Nobody ever said it was a done deal yet, just that John Stamos might be planning it.

I found it hard to believe that he would really be the one initiating a remake of the show when it was him that decided to leave and stopped them from making a ninth season.

I highly doubt it will be a worthwhile show, however, if it ends up happening. All remakes/spinoffs just take away from the original because you're watching it expecting the same thing so instead of just watching a rerun you try to watch the new one but all you think about during the spinoff are your memories of watching the old one. I don't know if you guys feel that way about spinoffs but that is exactly what happened for me when I first tried to watch Joey.

I actually think this is a fantastic thing - this was actually a rumor a couple weeks ago (I was discussing it on another board), and this is the first news of it actually being real.

I think it would be even better if ABC could snatch it up for as early as next season. They're lacking bigtime in the sitcom department, and this could be the show to revive the family sitcom format on television. If it sticks to the original premise, just modern and grown-up, then I think it could work.

And if it does, I'd hope to see other sitcom remakes - wouldn't it be great to see Roseanne return to primetime television again?

I can't imagine this going to series, perhaps it would be a pilot movie or special..probably for ABC Family....remember ABC Network did make two growing pains movies!

It sounds more like a remake of the show, as in an actual series rather than just a televised movie. This does sound serious, though, especially with both Stamos and Candice commenting on it. Sounds like everyone's interested in doing it again, too (god knows their careers could use a bump). I have hope for this - I doubt anything will be ready by next fall, or even next winter, though.

Technically not a remake if the same characters will be reprising their roles as regulars. Unless they are married with children and Joey is in the basement, lol

John Stamos' career doesn't need a bump, he actually has been acting quite regularly.....I am all for this, if anything for the curiosity factor but I will be shocked if it was for a network. Again I suspect ABC Family...at least they can try and coax other series regulars just for guest stints, even one of the olsens would probably do one episode or a scene each!

I would love a reunion movie! I can't imagine another series happening though.

Well, with ER ending this season, John Stamos will need a job. I'm kind of surprised to see him getting this whole thing started, though, considering he wasn't to get off it in the first place.

I'd love to see ABC go for this - they aired it originally, and they're really in desperate need of a nice comedy block. I'm waiting for them to start a TGIF block again - Wifeswap and Supernanny just aren't cutting it on Fridays, and a nice sitcom block is greatly needed.

I think this could actually be good quiality-wise, though, if they do it right. All they have to do is stick to the original premise, and try not to make it "reunion," like, but more of a continuation of the series 15 years later. You know it would premiere huge with the curiosity factor.

Again I'm all for this idea, I own all the season sets.....BUT.....Reality owns network TV at 8PM, its cheap to produce....the family format sitcom has changed, you need to be sarcastic. The days of a TGIF block are over, cable has all the tween stuff.......we shall see...I did watch Candace in her new made for Hallmark channel Christmas movie and it was enjoyable. I understand Jodie S just filed for divorce.
