One page of this site that has had even less activity than this one is that of "Love Sidney". Up until yesterday it had been over a year since anyone other than me started a new thread or responded to an old one! I attempted to stimulate some conversation about the sereis by starting three new threads during the past year. No dice! They each have a bunch of view but zero responses! However, as I was surfing today, I found a whole new thread that already had a response! I went ahead and responded to that response. Does anyone out there remember this sereis? I remember a brief period in which "Gimme a Bread!" was on at nine o'clock on Saturday Nights and "Love Sidney" was on right afterwards. I thought it was a cute little show. If you think back to the two-parter where Nell and Addie go to New York, you will remember a cameo by Tony Randell. By this time, "Love Sidney" had been off the air for less than a year. Throughout this episode, his role as Sidney Schore as well as his role as Felix Unger got one mention each!

I forgot about Tony being a guest on "Gimme A Break." It's sad that both Tony Randall and Nell Carter are gone now. I think if "Love Sydney" were on TvLand (yeah right) or on DVD you would get some reponses to your posts. Then again, maybe not. Gidget is on DVD and that forum is pretty dead too. I'm not sure if it's better to have no posts or bonehead posts (some of the Gidget threads are nerve-wrecking to me).
I remember watching "Love Sydney," but it's been so long that I couldn't tell you much about it. When I was a kid, I never thought about Sydney's sexual orientation, I just thought he was a nice, older man. I wish there were a show like it now. |

Like always, I am very happy that one of my posts has generated a response! Although the fact that the character of Sidney was gay was far from being a major storyline, it was mentioned in a couple of episodes. We even saw a picture of a man that he had dated. If this respondee (or anyone else) would like to read more about my ideas about "Love Sidney" they can go to the "Mad About You" section of this site. In between the time that I started this thread and the present, I went to that page and posted one called "Sidney Returns".

Just kidding... I didn't know they actually showed a man's photo. That's very interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Sadly, the chances of them (or anyone really) airing this show again are probably one in a million. I never knew Tony appeared on Gimme a Break. I would love to see that episode though if they ever release more seasons of GAB.

For the record, the man who Sidney had shacked up with was named Martin. His picture was seen in the living room once. Whether he was ever mention before or since, I do not know. In any event, the case where Tony appeared on "Gimme a Break!" was in the third season. At this stage in the game "Love Sidney" had been off of the air for less than a year. The episode that it took place in was the one in which Addie won a trip to New York and took Nell as her guest.

Throughout this week, I have been going all over this site brining old threads to the tops of pages in an attempt to stimulate some conversation about these fine show! All told, I have had very little success! I guess that people are just into other things at the moment. On this particular page, I have only generated one response and that one is rather vulger and ignorant! I wonder if things will be different this time around! |

I have two reasons for bringing this thread to the top of the page. In the first place, last night I brought a bunch of threads to the top but have, so far, been unsuccessful in stimulating any conversation! Maybe I will get lucky this time around! On top of this, one of my posts on the "Love Sidney" page finaly generated some responses. I could not believe that after over a year people acually read and responded to what I had written about that sereis! I have since responded to that response and the last time I checked, my post was at the top of that page. Even though that sereis was nowhere near as successful or as long-lived as "Gimme a Break!" I would think that the people who did watch it were, very much of the same generation as the people who watched this series. Dose anyone reading this remember that show? If so, what did you think of it? |
