What was this short lived sitcom about? It was on around 1987.

About a young black ex-con woman who is befriended by a kindly old white woman. Aired on NBC off and on for a few weeks during that season. Best left forgotten--it was horrible!

Something that looks like that should have came out during the Fred Silverman period, not the post Cosby Show glory days!

Alliteratively, this would have made a good sitcom partner for Mr. Silverman's 'Mr. T & Tina'.

I never heard of this show - but it sounds like a spinoff of Happy Days. It probably would've been better than Joanie Loves Chachi!!

Actually, it aired on NBC during the spring of 1986 and then again in the spring of 1987. I used to watch the show. When the son found out his mother invited the ex-con to live with her, her response was:

Mrs. C.: She's an ex-con. She had no place to go.

I do have one episode on tape from the short second season.

The eps I remember are:

The ep when Geri and Mrs. C fight over the 2 million dollar lottery.
The ep when Geri's ex-boyfriend escapes.
The ep when it is Mrs. C's birtday and everyone has different plans for Mrs. C.
(That episode was dedicated to the memory of Liberace) I have this one on tape.

As a kid, I liked the show. I thought it was cute. When I look back at it now, there are some aspects of it that seem totally unreal. It seemed that Geri did not seem the prison type. Although I liked it, I can see why this show got canceled though. Peggy Rea was good as Mrs. C but Misha McKay should have played her part a little more edgier.

My bad. I meant to say "Peggy Murray". Peggy Rea in the role would have certainly been a twist.

LOL. I can't see Peggy Rea in her crusty way play the part of a sweet old lady.
