Default MP3 Player Question

I'm looking at an ipod- 80GB which can hold over 25,000 songs- on ebay for around $170 which isn't a bad deal. The problem is, I'm not familiar with itunes. I had an ipod before but lost it, and when I downloaded itunes, I had no clue how to use it or how to get songs from the computer onto the ipod. It seems like, it would take a lot of back and forth work to get 25,000+ songs onto an ipod, especially if i'm working with a program I have no expertise in. Can somebody help me out? I don't know if I should invest in this ipod, and try to deal with itunes, or look at other MP3 players. I already have an iriver mp3 player, but it's only 2/3 gigs and it's not as good as an ipod, or doesn't hold as many songs. I was thinking about a Zune, but I heard getting an ipod has better features then a Zune. Help please.

i would recommend looking into other mp3 players merely because ipods are unreliable garbage. i'm sure there are a few ipods out there that actually last longer than a few months without self-destructing, but there are way too many terrible experiences with them, including my own, for it to be worth investing. itunes is indeed confusing anyway. most mp3 players are just a matter of clicking and dragging the files into a folder.

I've always had players from Creative Labs and iPods always seemed flimsy to me, especially when I've seen classmates use them for presentation only to have the iPod missing the content they loaded or to have it crash.
The Creative Zen is a great newer MP3 player if you want album art and customized wallpapers. Be warned that the higher gigabytes are only available on their website (us.creative.com) and retail only sells up to 4GB Zens. Here's a little advice beforehand, use WinAMP's media center with Creative products. Don't use the Creative software or Windows Media Player 11 because both programs like to screw with the ID3 tags and leave album art missing.
I also have a love affair with the older monochrome Nomad Zen Xtra line, but they don't sync with Vista and there is no Vista expansion software.
