This thread is dedicated to the horrible presents we have received over the years.

Last year for my 26th birthday, someone gave me a pink Disney watch. And it wasn't a joke gift.

I also have a friend who gives nothing but scratch tickets. He never buys me a winner.

I've also received some heinous-looking outfits from people I thought knew my style.

my aunt lorraine is the worst offender. i'm 26 years old and she buys me stuff for kids. one year she got me socks with sesame street characters on them!but the worst was a baseball cap with sequins all over it. the sequins were in no particular design or pattern just covered the whole cap in colors of purple, green yellow and silver. it looked like something out of mardi gras.

Well I haven't gotten anything too bad but I remember when I was 19 my boyfriend (now hubby) bought me a crock pot. I was really upset about it at the time but now it just seems funny.

A leopard print jogging suit with a matching purse - Besides being totally fugly, the pants made a weird squishing sound when I walked. I wore it outside the house once (everything else was dirty) and ran into my aunt who gave it to me. She wanted to know where the purse was. Are you kidding?

An rotating music box that had creepy looking angels on top. Scared the heck out of me.

A vest with appliqued leaves on it. From the same aunt who gave me the jogging suit.

A bootleg set of Tyler Perry videos - I can't stand Tyler Perry. I got this from an uncle who 2 years later asked me if I was still watching them. No!

A perfume set with one of the perfumes obviously sampled. The person who gave it to me said she wanted to try it out.

One of my grandmas always gives me weird gifts. One year I got house socks from her -- the kind that have rubber print on the bottom -- and mine had ****ing BOWS SEWN ON. Ugh they were so ugly! Another year, it was a pair of these fancy clothes hangers that are padded and usually reserved for nightgowns or whatever. They were in their original box, too... from 1968.

So she pretty much dug them out of wherever in her house and gave one to me and one to my sister.

Another year, she gave all the females in my family really ugly toe socks and slippers. THat was the same year I got toe socks from everybody -- um, UGLY!! and I don't wear toe socks to start with.

One year my brother bought me this thing from the dollar store. I had to ask what it was it was so fugly. I think it was a plastic combo clock, lamp, barometer, aquarium thing he paid $2.00 for. It was the one time I actually came out and didn't hide my true disgust. Then it turned out he said he got it as a joke....but I still wonder sometimes....

Only other thing I can think of that used to be really bad were these hideous sweatshirts (with the tiny collar which I NEVER wear) that my scum-in-law would buy at Bi-Way. The things were made in Korea by dwarves, for dwarves. They were always too short, too wide and the arms would only come down just below the elbow but they were meant to be full length. It usually had some pathetic "painting" of kittens with butterflies that would peel and wash off the first time you washed it. The only Godsend about that would be that the arms and length would shrink it would make it totally unwearable anyway.

my dad got me some christian book called "it's not only about you" or something to that extent.

he was trying to push his beliefs on me in a subtle way and call me conceited all at once (think the title of the book) !

When I was 15 or 16 my dad and stepmom got me a penmanship book. I thought it was a joke until later my stepmom yelled at me for not using it.

Yup, my aunt is the same way. She's the one who gave me that Disney watch. I've tried telling her I'm 27 now and I don't want kid stuff, but she just doesn't get it.

I never got any really bad gifts personally; but my mother did one year.

My mother is a aide in an after school program. One year this Chinese's boys grandmother came to pick him up from school and gave my mother a plastic bag. The old lady said "Gift... gift..." smiled, and walked away.

The bag smelled really, really bad. So when everyone left all of the employees gathered round the bag and inside was a raw chicken. The feathers were plucked and it was ready to go.

My mother threw it in the dumpster on the way out. I don't think anyone can beat a raw chicken.

Aww, that's sweet actually when you think of it. It's a very common practice in China, Korea, Viet Nam, etc, and other parts of the world where good food isn't readily available. The old lady probably thought she was giving a very nice gift that would feed her family for the evening. Especially the work she had put into it plucking it and all - that's not an easy or clean task.

My mom's Christmas gift from my father, yet - had to be the oddest one yet. I've even got a couple of pictures of her opening I could post. He bought her a filing cabinet

What the heck for, none of us could figure out. It was big so he had me wrap it in plain kraft wrap, and hand paint holly, snowmen, and other Christmas things on it. Then, it read "ACME Dildo Company, Stroke On Stroke, England; 1 dozen gross, large tip" on two sides of it.

He did it so it would really get her curiosity up as it sat under the tree ahead of Christmas. The look on her face when she finally saw what it was, was priceless!

i don't know about odd or weird, but i have an uncle who certainly has plenty of money but you wouldn't think it with the gifts him and his wife give. one xmas they gave my mom a candle and on the bottom of it was a sticker that said "free sample"

Probably true, but I wouldn't eat the thing. In a plain plastic bag, with no covering or anything?? no way.
