I decided to be an agnostic.
I had a crappy weekend.
I see everyone in my family with someone on Thursday, I hear that my mom got into a car accident on Friday (She's fine, but the car isn't), I spent my weekend at my grandma and I didn't even finish with the Christmas Tree for her, and now I'm unsure if I want to drive anymore. I might as well suffer with the hell I made and turn away from God. I'm also thinking of seeing a Fortune-Teller sometime this month and ask why are these things happening? |

I'm sorry all of this happend to you and hope things get better. About your religious choice, you have every right to worship or not worship however you see fit.

i think people think God is supposed to be a genie who grants wishes. God doesn't promise that life is going to be all sunshine and cupcakes! He does offer though His strength and unwavering love to comfort you through the hard times but you have to have the faith to recognize it and embrace it.

God made some days good and some days bad. The bad days are actually a blessing, because it makes us wiser and stronger..

Everyone has crappy weekends. I think you should concentrate on what you have. Vehicles can be fixed or replaced. You'll only have one mother. Corny, but true - You have to be the change in the world you want to see.

I'd still trade you in a second. Not to make your troubles small, but I wish mine were as easy to fix.
![]() And p.s. - don't waste your money on a "fortune-teller".

Sorry to hear your having a bad weekend. You know that saying that goes "Everything happens for a reason."? Well I truly believe that. Out of the bad things that happened, look for something good. Like someone else said, at least your mom is still alive. Maybe you should be thinking god for that one instead of turning your back on him. But again like someone said, that is your choice and you have every right to make it.
I find it disturbing how some people turn their backs on god and curse him because they feel he isn't doing enought for them. Then when there is a major crisis how many of them are on their knees begging for god to help? |

I just watched "Bruce Almighty" and I feel a little bit better with my faith.
Maybe I should see that film every time I get discouraged with God. |

I've actually been having issues with my faith wavering lately too. Brian's been helping me, but it's hard. I need to believe because I MUST see my parents and sisters again, and death can't make it final for me and my husband. It's just getting more difficult to believe that God is loving or if he even exists. My husband threw in the towel a couple of years ago. It's a terrible feeling, to feel your faith slipping away.

I understand completely about problems with faith. Sometimes, especially in these past few years since my mother passed away, I admit that I've felt angry at God--" I KNOW, Lord, that people have to die, death happens to all of us, but WHY my mother??" I got so upset a few years ago that I just let out and let God have it. I cursed a blue streak at Him like a sailor on Tourette's about my mother dying, etc. (also a big part of the reason was that I had missed the bus and had to wait), and I never did that before. Then after I had regained my composure, I said, "I hope you understand, God.
I don't really mean it" (though I did at the time). Sometimes, I have had major disappointments with Christians. On the third anniversary of my mother's death last year, I received an e-mail from one Christian lecturing me about something I did, and I did not want to receive such a message on a very unpleasant day to have to remember. This person's message was terse, unsympathetic, unfeeling, too "business-like" and soulless. Not harsh, but clinical and too "parental". That soured me a great deal on wanting to be identified as a Christian. I tried to respond, and explain and apologize for the situation that he was going on about, but I don't think he got the message. So I'm not very happy with this person, especially when I was hurt on such a black day to remember. I've also been frustrated with God recently at thinking about the death of Anne Pressly, the newscaster who was beaten to death during a robbery just right after she saw the movie in which she starred, the "W." film, in a brief part. Why does a beautiful, giving, loving person, so young and so much to offer, have to die?? Where is God's sense of justice? Is he so cruel to allow this, or powerless to stop it?? After all I've thought about, feeling like I had some of the answers, I can't explain this. I imagine that maybe my definition of God needs expanding. But still..... Though I'm glad her killer has been caught (hopefully), and that there is some closure and justice for her family, it still makes me wonder. Who among us is safe if God doesn't protect the truly innocent?? |

I think everyone questions their faith at some point, I know I have many times. I have to say that I know God exists because there are situations I've been in where I should've been dead or seriously hurt, but I made it through without a scratch, God is the only explanation for that. I have been angry with God before, but turning your back on Him or cursing Him just isn't the answer.

James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. When we face hard times and difficult circumstances they aren't meant to turn us away from God they're meant to test our faith in order to make it stronger. It's like coal. Coal needs to go through extreme heat and pressure in order to turn into a diamond. So when difficult things are happening in your life just remember that means God is at work in you turning you into his precious jewel.
